Getting VBG In 2 weeks!!!
I am going for VBG in two weeks and i have heard nothing but good from it. But then I came here and i am reading all of the things everyone is saying and there really is nothing good. I am getting kind of concerned now. I did my research and feel this is right for me but I am hearing alot of complecations. Is there anyone that has got the procedure in the past 2 years that could give me some feed back. Because i know the procedure go change a few years ago. Thanks
Thank you!! People are saying they cant eat any meats. But then Debby says different. It just is coming so close so all the negativity is freaking me out. How did your surgery go? How long did you stay in the hospital for? I wish you the best of luck. I think all the out come depend on how well the people use their new tool!! so if they are eating the meat so fast then of course it will get stuck and they will throw up!!
My surgery went fine. I was in the hospital overnight. My surgery was scheduled on Monday at 11:30 A.M. and I was in my room by 3:00. I left the hospital Tuesday afternoon at 3:00. Dr. Valin asked if I wanted to stay another day and I said no, I'd rather go home. So staying an extra day was definitely an option. Everyone was very nice at the hospital. The nurses were the best. they made sure I was comfortable and pain free!
How did your surgery go? I was reading your questions and I have the same concerns. I did my research and was so excited about my surgery, then I visited this site. First off I was considering the sleeve and I was on thier fourm until I talked to my doctor and found out about the VBG. So I quickly visited this site expecting to receive the same support as the sleeve forum. Boy was I wrong, all I read was all these negative things and I became concerned as well. So I guess I am wanting to find out how everything is going with you? Are there any regrets? How long was you hospital stay? Have you lost alot so far? Any advices at all would be helpful.
I lOVE my VBG!! I wouldnt change a thing! I am 6 weeks post op and i feel great. Now keep in mind everyone is different. Everyone recovers different and all foods are different for people. I would recomend the surgery. I have no regrets at all. I lost 44lbs so far i lost 13 before surgery. The one thing i would do over is to try to lose more weight before my surgery. You have to chnage your habits before. If you dont chnage your mind the tool will not work. Well it will for a little but you will regain your weight back if you dont. Dont get me wrong i am still working on this everyday. I am winning the fight. I wish you the best of luck and any question you have dont hesitate to ask. Keep in touch

p.s most of the people on here also have had the vbg like 4-5 years ago it has chnaged 2 years ago.

Had my sugery in 10/2003 -- In the beginning it was hard to eat meat. Now I can eat tender or well cut up meat. As long as it can be chewed down small enough to pass through the outlet I can eat it. I can not however tolerate spicy food very well. I have to eat much less if it is spicy as it needs space to "rumble around".
It just occurs to me that this is my 5 year anniversary coming up in October. My how time flies by. I think that you will find that if you can't eat something "one year" you may be able to eat it at a later date. Just keep trying.
Once you have surgery and start eating it will take your head a little bit of time to catch up with your stomach size. After the first few weeks though you should be fine. In the beginning you may find that your eyes (and brain) are certainly bigger than your stomach and depending on the size your surgeon makes your stomach this could very well be the case!
Probably no matter what surgery you had selected you would start to worry now. Each surgery has it's pros and cons. You did your research and selected the surgery that was best for YOU. That is all that you can do. Leave the rest up to your surgeon to do his job and then you get to experience the benefits of your new life post surgery.
Best of luck and happy wishes to you.

I had the VBG over 4 years ago and am incredibly happy! Meat was more difficult at first, but once I learned and got accustomed to chewing things really fine and making sure it was moist, I have no problems! Read my blog stuff if you want. I tell about my total experience. I wouldn't have chosen any other surgery if Ihad to do it again!
