Anyone have advice on what to do when food gets stuck?

Ok, so I have had 4 episodes so far of food getting stuck and it stays stuck for 2-3hrs. My chest feels like it is going to explode and all I can do is stand over the toilet and spit this clear mucousy, salty stuff. I wretch, but no vomit (I guess because the food hasn't hit the stomach yet). The pain is un-bearable. Anyone have any advice to ease the pain and make it end quicker?

When this happens to me I like to throw up as horrible as it sounds. Make sure that you eat smaller bits and eat slower. I definitely know that it's easier said than done, but it helps.

I had my VBG 4 and half years ago. I have had to drink hot tea to get everything back up and then felt better. Not sure why this happened alot. Karen

It tastes disgusting, but works well. Drink meat tenderizer mixed with water.  It breaks down the protein.  I also try the 3 big gulps of water to try to bring it up, but depending what it is, the tenderizer works almost every time!
