Hi all, I just had VBG on 2/26 and I have already had 4 vomiting episodes. I am tired of baby food and cottage cheese and I was wondering what everyone else was eating 3 weeks out with success. Also, I have already plateaued at 20lbs and the scale hasn't budged. I am probably only eating about 500 calories a day, but I can't fit more in. Need advice and support!!! Thanks, Wendy

Hi! I was just cruisng through the boards and I can't belive how deserted this one is... You should post that question on the VSG and Lap Band form (if you haven't already), since your procedure is like a combination of the two, kind of. You will get losts of advice and support there. Good Luck!

Do you really have a VBG?  I didn't think docs were still doing this procedure Good Luck with everything.  This board had been abandoned.  You will find others with VBG on other WLS forums on OH - mostly pre/post WLS revisions.  I truly believe that you have a VSG because no one is doing the VBG anymore. Best, L

I had my open vbg on 3-11-08 and have plateaued at 25lbs it seems.  I've been able to eat chicken and lean hamburger ok.  I do drink Carnation Instant breakfast - Sugar Free for breakfast each day and somnetimes for lunch at work.  I do find I am hungry alot of the time (wasn't expecting that). The only time I have vomitted is when something gets stuck and I make myself .  Feels so much better!  Good luck getting off the plateau, I'm going to start at the gym this week and hope that helps.

I agree this forum is soooo deserted. I had the VBG in April of 2006, so some surgeons are still doing them.  I still vomit if something gets stuck and I am 2 years out. I just have to chew very carefully.  I suggest for beginning stages:  Protien Drinks Cottage Cheese Refried Beans w/ cheese Soups Scrambled eggs And chew, chew, chew.  Good Luck! Lisa

I am scheduled for a VBG on May 9th.  I selected this procedure because of convenience (no going back for fills all the time) and low risk (nothing rerouted).

It does concern me that this board is so empty, though!

My husband just had a VBG on Monday (Apr 28). The doctor picked this procedure as the best for "big guys who just eat too damn much." Today he is still feeling queasy and worried about the gurgling and achy back. Can you all tell me if this is pretty normal at this early stage? He had a bad reaction to the heavy painkillers so I'm thinking he might be a little behind on recovery. Thanks.
