How long where you out when you had the VBG?

My boyfriend is looking into having the VBG. I was wondering how ong where you out when you had the surgery? Is it like the RNY? I had the RNY, and was out for 3 weeks, I had it laporscopic. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! Hugs, Alicia 402/375/261/150 consult/surgery/current/goal

I had the VBG w/sleeve on November 15, 2005 and I was out 4 weeks, and then went back to work part time.

I had surgery on a Thiursday, went home on a Saturday, no meds by Sunday, went out to dinner Wednesday, went grocery shopping Saturday, and went to work the following Monday. It was great for me!!!! I have had no pain, no side efects at all since then. Good Luck, Virginia

I was in the hospital four days and out of work for three weeks. I had the option of just going back to work for half days for a couple of weeks, but didn't use that option. I wish I had, because I was very sore when I got back to work, and it was difficult to do my job. But I've noticed that everybody is different. I have a low pain tolerance level, and some people can handle pain very well.

I had the VBG done in March 2004. I had the surgery on a Wednesday, was in the hospital for 5 days. Went home on a Monday. Was out from work for 10 more days and went back. But I sat a lot at work. I am a teacher, so I didnt have to be on my feet a lot. I think it depends on what type of job you have also. Good luck!!!
