Some answers please

I'm trying to figure out if anyone knows if there is a surgeon that can take tricare and do the sleeve I've read that only military care facilities do it but I would rather not go to PortsmouthNaval. Any help or advice is very much appreciated!

Topic: I have been away for a very long time...
Hi Guys,

I am back with a plead for help.  I fell off the wagon for over a year, I have gained 10 pounds.  Please tell me how to test my pouch to see if it still works.  I know it all comes down to food choices and water, but I lost my bible (bariatric handbook)  and I am at somewhat of a loss for what to do next.  I know this has happened to some of you in the past.  I just want to get back on track with a new start.  Do I go back on clear liquids, and for how long?  This support group was the best thing for me, and I got away from it once I moved away.  I was in Alabama, and now I reside in Andrews TX.  It is right on the border of New Mexico on the panhandle.  Gwen, Susan, Jackie and all my old friends, I miss you and need you.

Thanks in advance, Lisa

Tammy     Take it slow with the replacing shakes with meals.   when you get your surgery you need to eat well balanced meals... You are in the right direction just do not starve this body.
Start with one replacement meal and add a snack after ....

Great you are counting your carbs and sodas.... try using a sugar substitute   I use equal.   Water to hydrate will always be your best friend.

the surgeon and the nutrionist will be of great help, my surgeon had me on the modified Adkins diet... In your new WL life your best friend will be your nutrionist.  I still live by her basic meal , vitamin, drinking and protien schedule.

do you research and just remember that any of the surgeries are just a tool.   We all work at a healthy balanced life style.

Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing .. WE ALL need support...  Caroline

Hello Fellow Virginias,
I am just beginning on my weight loss journey, I have my first appointment Monday the 18th with the surgeon. I have started to diet already on my own and have lost 6 lbs. I have cut out soda and have cut back on the amount of carbs I have been taking in. I also replaced breakfast and lunch with a protein shake and I am drinking lots and lots of water :)  Hope to get to know some of you all better as I journey to a healthier me !!!

Welcome back to the DMV, like Caroline said Fair Oaks is probably your best bet. I go to the support group in the woodbridge area, it's a struggle for me to get there on time and I'm coming from Alexandria. .

Try Fair Oaks Inova Hospital  they have a great nutrionist WLS  and support groups.  I imagine Alexandria or Fairfax Inova may have support groups, but now sure.     Fair Oaks is the best in the area.

Welcome to the VA forum    We look forward to hearing from you.

Topic: just moved to Arlington....Need a support group
Hi Ladies and Gents!
I just relocated back to the DC area (Arlington-Shirlington Village) and loving it.  Now I need a support group to continue my journey and lose about 30-40 lbs.  Can you please let me know where I can find a good group to join?

Thanks -
Iman

Topic: RE: Eric Pinnar Moved to FL????
Caroline, obviously he sold his practice - this was not in question.  The fact that he never bothered to TELL his patients that they would no longer have access to the surgeon who performed their surgery is the first issue.  The second issue that I personally have with Dr. Pinnar's practice is that many of his patients are self-pay, we paid for 2 years worth of adjustments, and I am only 1 year into this - it is clear from the state of the current office - a sleep doctor and investors who purchased it and the 3 staff members (2 front desk, 1 PA all looking to leave) that the office is disintegrating before my eyes.  Soon patients will have not only no one familiar to see at Dr. Pinnar's for routine adjustments but no one at all AND they will have to pay out of pocket for expenses that *should* have been covered by the self-pay.

Sorry to hear about him selling his practice. I really liked him and his father when they were together. I had signed up to have surgery paid my fees and then they split. I asked around to find out why but didn't get any straight answers so I walked away from the drama and started looking for another surgeon. That's when I found Blue Point and Dr Moazzez. While there last week for my followup they received several calls from Pinnar patients wanting to be seen.
