Congratulations on starting your journey.

I had RNY at Sentara in Norfolk using Tricare and Aetna insurance on 10/11/2011. I would be happy to provide any help. Just let me or the forum know what you are curious, confused or anxious about and we will try our best.

Good luck!

Hi everyone. I live in the Martinsville VA area. I am having to drive to Roanoke to see my surgeon, Dr Long. I have jumped through Medicaid's hoops for the last 6 months. I have the Virginia Premier MMO. I finished my pre-op tests, my doctor's office faxed and mailed in my info to get the approval for the surgery. I was told it would take 2-3 weeks for an answer but actually they faxed my approval the same day. My surgery has been set for March 12th. I know I am gonna need people to talk to and ask questions. I was just wondering if anyone here lives near. I am sure you will all get sick of seeing my posts but I am determined to do this right.

Hello everyone, I am a newbie in Portsmouth, VA and am a military spouse.  After having been declined a referral by my PCM last year because I was considering pregnany I finally got one from another doctor last month and attended the Bariatric Orientation at NMCP last week.  I completed my labs, chest x-ray and EKG the following day and received a call today from the Bariatric Clinic scheduling my first appointment with the surgeon, Dr. Mann, on 3/12/12.  I am very nervous and excited at the same time.  I have a ton of questions and anxiety. I have a terrible fear of death that I cannot seem to shake.  I have to get over this and see the good that this surgery can bring.  Has anyone else felt the same way?

Woohoo! After an initial screw-up with getting referred to the wrong place, I now have an appointment for orientation on March 8, 2012 at Portsmouth Naval. The ball is finally rolling!

Hi Ms Court! My RNY is scheduled for 2/28/2012. I've been working with Dr. Anez's office since 9/2010. How have you been doing lately? I see you haven't posted in about a year. Would love to hear from you about your challenges.

My recovery was great. Minimal pain and I was ready to get walking. The most pain I had was from the pain pump but it wasn't working right, after it came out i felt a lot better. The only complication I had was I dehydrated because I was only getting 17oz of fluid in . Remember Walk , walk and walk and sip sip sip and you will do fine.

 Hello,

I use BluePoint Surgical, and had Dr. Halmi. I love the staff there.
