Topic: Insurance denied sleeve? any suggestions?
I have had all the classes and preop tests, even had a surgery date scheduled and medicare said no to the sleeve. Anyone else have the sleeve and have medicare? How did you get them to approve?
Thanks...any input is welcome...am trying not to get discouraged.

Hello All,
My name is Angela and I have just turned 44. I have been over weight all my life and I have been researching weight loss surgery for several years. I have quite a few health issues and my family dr I use to have suggested the surgery, but my insurance had to have a referal and all the information to have the surgery. I finally found a new Dr and I absolutly love her. She has been working to get my Diabetes under control and my BP. about 3 months ago she asked me if i had considered gastric by pass, and I told her yes, but before my insurance would pay they had to have a report from my Dr. I told her how my other dr said he was working on it but never did anything. My DR told me she would take care of it. With in 2 weeks I had an appt with a surgeon and I have went for my 1st visit. I was so excited to learn my insurance has approve the surgery. The only catch is I have to have a 6 month physician controlled diet, which is what my insurance requires. Those of you know all the prep work. I have to get an appointment with a physchiatrist (sp?), and I have to write a letter why I want the surgery.
Sad thing now is this past thursday I fell down and fracture my leg and cracked a piece of bone.
Wish me luck.

I am a patient of Dr. Moazzez as well. What a wonderful caring doctor he is. The staff was great also.
I am post op now 6 years, I lost a total of 115 pounds, RNY. I had no complications to mention, and in the past 3 months I have lost another 10 pounds.
We still have that tool that was given to us to use. Many people believe that after the first year being the honeymoon period, that losing becomes very hard. We just have to keep fighting and believe in ourselves.
Good luck to all,
Donut

Dr. Nain performed my VSG last Weds, but I mostly saw Dr. Halmi in the hospital. I love Blue Point they are all helpful when I go and so easy to work with!
Topic: RE: Newbie in Portsmouth
Hey there,
I'm up in Hampton and just got a referrel to Portsmouth. My orientation is on March 6th. It's awesome to know that things are moving quickly for you. My fear is it will take forever to get through all the screening stuff, just for them to tell me I can't get the surgery for some reason. Keep us posted!

Topic: RE: Dr. Anez
Hi Lady DD.
I had RNY with Dr. Anez on 12/13/11 at Fair Oaks Hospital. My overall experience was wonderful and the hospital staff was top notch. Dr. Anez's staff was and still is totally helpful. After I got home, I called them so many times to ask questions and they were always helpful and polite. They never seemed to get frustrated or bothered by me.
I don't think it's the hospital stay you have to worry about, it's when you get home. I thought I was totally prepared afterwards, but I had no idea. Do you have a friend or anyone close to you that has had the surgery that you can call after the surgery? It is very important, because no one can understand what you're going through and it helps to have someone to ask questions.
Good luck! If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
