That is a tuff "break", err,....sorry about that. But it shouldn't keep you from progressing on your 6 month preliminary pre-op gastric bypass type stuff. Maybe this wil work out to be a blessing in disguise. Good luck and don't give up on yourself. This is like a second chance at life and worth pursuing.

Shelliebean, do you happen to know where he is now? I've tried calling and using the web site and they seem to be down. I hope BandCare of NOVA hasn't closed their doors! I used to see Phil too, and would prefer to go back to him.

The thought of death is a very natural and normal feeling. We all go through many emotions. You have do all your research and determine what is best for you as far as surgery type etc. Once you are 100% committed to this new lifestyle, only then should you have the surgery. It's a journey. I think of it like an never ending roller coaster ride lol Good luck with your decision. Kerry
Topic: RE: Insurance denied sleeve? any suggestions?
Is medicare like medicaid??? I had medicaid for my insurance. I used the HMO optima Health through medicaid and didn't have an issue getting the sleeve covered. My Dr. office did all the work for me. Good luck. If the sleeve is what you want fight find another Dr if you have to and don't settle for no. Kerry

I am a newbie also. :) I met with Dr. Fontana and my surgery should be (praying here) in June. I have Aetna as well. I live in Western Branch so if you ever want to bounce anxiety ridden events off of another local just let me know LOL.
I was worried too about the death issue, but after talking with the surgeons I am not as worried. I do not have any comorbidities or health issues. I'm just too heavy LOL.
I have several friends who have had it done as well as my bf (who is also one of Fontana's patients) so that helps out a lot. :)

Hi.
I have been doing pretty good. Since surgery on 2/22 I dont have any pain and actually got outside yesterday and did a little bit of yard work. That was really good. I have an appointment today and will start mushies. Cant wait for that. I am really sick of yogurt, cream soups, etc. Will anyone be at the support group this week? Let me know if anyone has any questions I can help with.

Sorry I would of responded sooner but I don't usually check this board as much as vsg one since it is so dead. I see you said you were having VSG on 3/5/12 and that was 4 days ago. I hope you are doing well and recovering quickly. It's all down hill from here, atleast for the weight lol VSG was the best decision I could of ever made and I am so glad I learned about this surgery before I had RNY. Kerry

Well, I had my orientation today at Portsmouth Naval. There was a lot of good information, but most of it I had already familiarized myself with. Next up is bunch of labs and tests. Hopefully my first appointment will be fairly quick.
VSG on 03/21/12
