I'm 13 months out, have lost well below goal lost over 125 pounds, am currently down to 107, don't look at profile, haven't updated in over 6 months. I was doing fairly fine for the majority of the year until they found I was getting really anemic. My iron levels got down to a 9 and they found I had blood in my stool. So the hematalogist ordered a colonoscopy and an egd and they found polyps that they removed, diverticulitis and a HUGE ulcer. Well those tests were two weeks ago today. Ever since that day I've not been able to hold any food down. Everything comes back up, including all of my liquids. I can hold liquids as long as there is nothing else in there. ANyway, had an upper GI on Wednesday to see what the problem was and the radiaologist said that the swelling from the ucler caused such a narrowing. Apparantely there was a stricture too cause my surgeon saw the report and then ordered another EGD with dialation from a different GI specialist yesterday. Had that done yesterday and went to eat again last night and sure enough, only had about 3 bites but threw all of that up plus all my fluids I had been drinking. Then this a.m. I tried to go back to drinking my milk which is how I get my protein in and taking all of my meds, Mental meds and vits and minerals, etc., plus new ulcer meds and threw all of that up too. That's what I've done for the last two weeks but I really thought since they stretched it I'd be ok now but it's no difference. I've had a call in to my surgeon and to the Gi specialist and of course both are out of th eoffice today. Just wondering if anybody has experienced anything like this and if so what did you do. They have me on protonix and carafat for the ulcer. I am currently also taking OTC generic zantac for the pain which does help. Any advice you can give would be appreciated. Thanks, Lori

Oh Sweetie....I have no knowledge whatsoever about all this but I wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine what you are going through. Maybe you are still just swollen from the procedure. Make sure you call the drs back tomorrow and get some answers... Hugs, Betsy

Lori, Sorry to hear of your problems. You poor thing. Protonix and carafate are excellent meds and should help that ulcer heal. It is going to take some time. See if sticking with very soft foods or pureed helps for a while til things heal a bit. Feel better! Kathy
