Can you help me out?

Nicole, Everyone finds little tricks here and there, and its always good to hear from others on ways and places to get what you need. We have the grocery chain Farm Fresh down here. They have some stores designated as Healthy Connections. Which means they have 2-3 aisles of low carb stuff and an organic aisle. In the organic aisle I get my vitamins. I get the Flintstones from where ever, but they have the chewable calcium, calcium in capsules and the sublingual B12 my Doc reccomends. They dont have much for protein choices, but I dont do typical protein anyways. For breakfast I usually have special k dry with no milk, its at least 7 grams of protein. (milk is not my friend anymore) I drink a 13 gram carb freedom smoothie on the way to work. While I am at work, I get my protein in with a bag of turkey jerky. Its like 48 grams for the whole bag. My problem is my coworkers help themselves sometimes and it drives me crazy! Lunch is varied, sometimes just a salad, sometimes leftovers, sometimes soup. Most of the time I am eating dinner leftovers which for dinner I usually have some kind of meat and some kind of vegetable. I eat alot of chicken just because it is easy to cook. I have a totally insane life, I am on the go all the time, I travel alot for work, I have on call rotations, work from home each night, etc. So my routine HAS to be very simple and easy to adjust because I don't have some set 9-5 job. If the network is down, I can tell my boss its been 30 mintues and I need to eat, I have to stay and work on the network or whatever the problem is. Leland

Leland, I just read your note about eating Turkey Jerky -- every day. I not sure if you are making it yourself or what is in the particular brand you eat, but I was instructed by my nutritionist that it is not good to eat much of meats processed with nitrates. Since we are loosing a lot of weight in a short time we are already taxing our livers with processing the extra fat and toxins in that fat. Adding a constant dose of nitrates could cause problems. I now buy cured meats (bacon/ sausage/ hotdogs/etc) without nitrates. You might want to ask your nutritionist or doctor about this. CathyA
