my boss is the best!!

Excellent news, Princess. I do love hearing reports like this, there are some truly good people in this world, we just have to find them. I had a similar experience telling my boss about the surgery. I decided not to tell anyone at wor****il after the fact, but like you, had to let the boss know what was going on, for scheduling reasons. He was actually excited for me, he knew a man from his church who had WLS and was very successful, even offered to introduce me to him if I had any questions. Just that one discussion made me want to work for him till I retire, or they kick me out. So I completely understand your relief and excitement. Best of luck to you. You have an excellent surgeon. Hey Carole, I was just reading your profile and had to laugh about your account of the support group meeting a few years ago and I have to tell you...I attended one last week for "our" surgical group and it was still hot, stuffy and waaay overcrowded!! I guess some things never change! As far as my surgeon goes, I have to agree! I was drawn to him from the first day that I heard him speak (at the info session). He is really personable, thorough and confident. Although I stress about all of the hoops that NSG has made me jump through, I know that when I finally get on that operating table, they will know exactly what's going on (or what could possibly go on) in my body and I will be in the best condition for surgery. Hi Christine, Hmmm, too bad about that support group problem, seems they'd figure that one out, huh? Yes, I've met Dr. Snyder. Although Dr. W. was my surgeon, it was Dr. Snyder who saw me in the hospital after surgery and gave me my marching orders and let me go home, so he was a VERY popular guy in my house! I will disagree, my boss is the best! I've worked for the same company since 1997 and had the same boss. When I started I was like 235 and it just kept going. He did everything he could when my back was bothering me. I did a bunch of traveling in 2001 and after that I gained a bunch of weight and he never asked me to get on a plane when he knew I couldn't handle the stress. In 2003 when my PCP said I needed to have the RNY GB, I told my boss before I told my husband. I was scared I would be out 6 plus weeks and when I came back they would have learned to live without me and I would get fired for breathing wrong. He said "We could never live without you" He was great about everything. Let me do all my pre-op stuff with no questions asked. His only question was "When can I put you back on a plane?" We scheduled a $600,000 VoIP roll out around MY surgery. Six weeks post op I did our downtown Norfolk office, 8 weeks DC, 10 weeks, I got on a plane and flew to Philly. Now, I will warn you, although my boss and most friends / coworkers were VERY supportive, Once the word got out, I had a coworker chase me around the office constantly trying to talk me out of it. You probably just want to make sure your boss keeps his lips sealed until you are prepared to handle the feedback. Even though you boss sees you will be a more productive person and he is happy you are taking charge of your life, you are still going to run into brick walls. My uncle was a brick wall. My mom eventually lied to him and said I wasn't having it because she got tired of listening to him insisting that she make me not have it. She confessed her lie when I was about 21 days post op. Anyways, Great to hear you have a supportive boss! Hopefully, you will only be surrounded with supportive people! Leland
