Maintenance Rebounding

After rededicating myself towhat worke for me before post-op, I got back to my jogging seriously.  After my first solid 10 days; 2 on, 2 off, 3 on (started with a HIIT day of 8x100 sprints in a total 3.5 mi workout),1 off, 2 on workout period AND while doing a protein bar variant of the pre-op liver shrinking diet:,....DRUM ROLL pleaseeee,....besides dropping 5 mins on my 3 mi jog/walk yesterday,.....(the suspense builds),......I took courage to step on the scales this morning at 4:30 a.m and I have dropped,...yes,...(applause from the gallery!!!)....13 pounds (285 to 272) in 10 days.

I know I should be banished for getting back up to 285 but I did.  And now I am serious about getting back to my post-op low of a stable 234 or lowest of 224 (3 yrs later), or maybe even going for that illusive personal goal of 200 I have yet to make.

Game on.  Cardiologist appointment next Wednesday to make the weight loss official.  Then its on to that first pleteau thingy on my way back down!!!!  Wanted to share with somene that would appreciate the accomplishment.  Thanks for taking a peek.

Now for those that don't get it,  as you get into some regular realtively serious workout training, you burn more, which requires more calories.  Even keeping it strt with complex carbs and protein rich foods, its still calories.  With a 8 month layoff from running with hip surgery I went from 234 to 250-255.  The a combo of thing officiating was getting me plenty of cardio and a prostrate setback that slowed me down for a while, I went from the 250s to 285.  The real kicker is I went back froma 40 pants to a 44 in the jump from 234 to 255 but have stayed ina 44 pants from 255 to 285.  But enuff was enuff and I needed to grab reality by the horns and get back in the fight.  I worked to hard to be good and play by the rules to fail at maintainig a healthier lifestyle and do wht I have relreaned the past 3.5 yrs post-op.  So there you go boys and mostly girls.  I am getting back ontrack and am pretty happy with the inital results, as I was when the magic pouch was doing most of the work with the inability to eat. Now its up to me to use the fillng fast.

You know,... the incredible part to me is, the days I jog, I have less appetite and desire to munch throughout the day.  Seesm it would be the other way around,...but it isn't.  And those endomorphines and adrenline rushes from the workouts,......Oh momma!  Its a good feeling.

Anyways, thanks for listening.  Just thought I share with my buds before I explode!

WAY TO GO, JOE!!

i am 5 years post op and woke up on March 29th with an attitude that i was not going to let my old habits control me any longer ...i had regained a total of 32 pounds from 2007-2010 and felt like a failure.  after getting back in the right frame of mind, i started with "back to the basics" ..started eating better..protein first...up'd my water intake to 100oz, more green veggies...and the biggest downfall and problems i had was taking my vitamins...started with them again

our tool is a wonderful blessing ..even after all the abuse i gave it for those three years, it still worked!!   i am happy to say that i am down 20 pounds since March and still working on the last 10 pounds or so (maybe i will keep going!)

so, i know where you are coming from and know where you are headed.  keep your chin up and keep up the great work!!  you deserve it!

It is easy to slip into the old habits... I know, I have gained also,  but sounds like you are doing great! I have started working out 3 days a week. (just a start, but it helps) I now need to get my eating under control. I wish you well and keep up the great work!
