Anyone that has had revision surgery by Dr. Elariny, what are his pre op requirements (i.e., blood work, colonoscopy, diet, etc...)?

What are you revising to?  There are several DSers on the DS board that have used him that may be able to help you.

I know a couple of Dr Elariny's revision patients and I believe the pre-op was pretty much routine for revision or virgin surgery. Blood work, EKG, Chest X-ray, sleep study is an option if you haven't had one, cardiac clearance if required, pulmonary clearance if required, ultrasound for gallbladder, EGD, colonoscopy, psychiatric clearance, medical clearance from PCP, blood work and dexa scan if required. He gears the tests to you, but these are the ones on his script, he checks off what you need.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Gina,

The colonoscopy is what I'm worried about the most!  I didn't have a whole lot of tests done with my first surgery.  Bloodwork, sleep study, psych evaluation, medical clearance from PCP and the test where you have to do a barium swallow and have x rays done.  That was pretty much all of the tests I had the first time.  So I'm pretty nervous about his tests.

They knocked me out for the colonoscopy so I was oblivious. You might ask if that's what he does or whomever you get to do yours.

Oh I hope that's what they will do!!  I was looking on the Internet at how a colonoscopy is done and it just said that they give you something to calm you.  :(
