Hi Everyone,
I just joined this forum because I am interested in getting lap band. Can anyone give me any advice on their experiences using Anthem BCBS PPO.

I am at 40 bmi and dont really have any other comorbidities other than depression. I went to my first seminar with Richmond Surgical Grp and I have my first surgical evaluation.

How long did the whole process take you before you were banded? Did the insurance company require alot of history from you.
All help is greatly appreciated!

I also had Anthem BCBS and was approved within 2 days. However, I did have a weight loss rider on my policy. Good luck to you. Please post any questions you may have.

I had Anthem BCBS PPO at the time of my surgery and was approved in less than 3 days.  It just took me that long to officially find out because I was too nervous to call.  I had open RNY.  They did not require a lot of history but I provided it just in case and I wanted to make sure I got approved.  I work for Anthem in a PPO unit so I knew what they would want.  Good luck and Welcome to the board!

Hi Tory I have gone to a seminar and im just making a appt with my surgeon on this coming tuesday .  I have talked to my insurance company alot in the past few weeks but I don't seem to have any restriction.  The patient representative was great and just told me as long as I had 2 co morbilities and had a bmi over 40 that I had a really good chance.  They don't even require much history.  Seems we will go through this journey together.

 hi tory

i have BCBS PPO through anthem. I also had a BMI at 40. i didn't have any other health factors. i was approved and received the letter within a week and half of my evaluation.  i didn't have to give a lot of previous medical history for anthem. just the form richmond surgical gave me.  good luck. i have enjoyed Dr. Brengman and Erin at the office. if u have any questions just let me know. hopefully i can answer them.
