Oh, sweetie.  You have been through, not one but TWO major surgeries.  For a normal RNY patient it can take 2-6 weeks to recovery.  Every person is different.  I went back to work after 2 week, but I ended up working half days as needed for few more weeks because of being exhausted and week.  The RNY surgery is major surgery and a blow to your system.  Then add on top you major complications and another surgery, it is a triple whammy.

I know going in, you were expecting to have a new lease on life.  And you will.  Give your body the time it needs to heal.  I know you want your independence.  You will have it.  The one thing I have learned the most from this surgery is to listen to my body and give what it needs.  And by all means, if this exhaustion is bothering you, call Dr. Halmi's office, that is what they are there for.   Many hugs!!!

Each passing day will get better.....i promise!   You have been through a major operation and your body is healing.   Keep your eye and heart on the long-term accomplishment and that will help to make it easier.   Remember...sip, sip, sip, and walk, walk, walk.  Let us know if we can help.

You have been given good advice. At 2 weeks out my doctor started me on B12 dots sublinqual. That did the trick for me.

Best wishes, Penny

You will get there.  It does take a few weeks.  Keep pushing it.

Are you following all the rules, water, protein, vitamins, etc.  That will help so much.

I am sorry you still feel so tired - are you taking all of your supplements especially B12 and a mulit vitamin - these will help you feel more energised plus you may need to take iron too - but please call your doctor and let him know how you are feeling and listen to what they need to say you should do........

And as everyone else said  - it WILL get better we promise... just give your bidy time to heal, drink your protein and take all your vitamins - they all help.....

I didn't have RNY, I had the lapband.   I had mine on March 17th, and they sent me home the same day.   Within a couple of days I was recovering from the surgery, and I week out I went back to work.   Considering how it went, and that I only had a few small incisions, I thought my energy should rebound, and that I'd be able to get back to my regular routine.

Well, I'm still struggling a little with the energy (all though the B12 penny suggested did help).  On top of that I just caught a really nasty head cold this weekend.  You have had it way worse than me, so I'm not suprised that you you feel tired.  Like you I am hanging in there and hoping I will start feeling good soon.   I sure hope your recovery goes more smoothly.   Hang in there and we will all keep you in our prayers.
