Feeling kind of weak
It's been 12 days since surgery. I seemed to come through it just fine. A little discomfort and pain at first, but that passed. However, I have noticed a decrease in my energy levels. I get tired more often. I thought it might be due to eating so much less (5 to 6 - 1/2 cup meals a day). I am getting the 60g protien, but most of it is low cal.
I am just wondering if anyone else felt this way in the begining, and if it got better with time?

The feeling weak is par the norm, you've had surgery and you body needs to heal and that drains you. Get as much rest as you can to help your body heal. it does get better in time, and at some point your energy level should greatly increase as you loss the weight. So be good to yourself now and rest.
Good pm,
First, please note that you should always check with your surgeon's office for their advice and cater it to your personal situation. The below is tried & true for myself and others here & meant as advice.
The decrease in energy levels is to be expected so early post-op. There are some things that you can do to try and increase your energy and strength levels. 60g of protein is a start. Personally & in cohoots with my surgeon's office its highly suggested we get in 80-100g of protein. In addition to protein you should consider uping the amount of fluids you are taking in. I push for 120+ oz. of "good" fluids meaning decaf, sugar free choices such as Crystal Light drop-in's, South Beach drop-in's, water, decaf/sf tea etc. Being that you are only 12 days out from surgery exercise is still a very real option. Try and set small goals for yourself and walk, walk, walk! Your energy levels will begin to return in the next several months.
To ensure the best results its paramount you keep up with your post-op follow up visits to include labs & any issues you are facing.
All best!

I have been through that weak feeling myself and just now coming out of it.. I also had to have my blood pressure meds decreased which is a victory in itself! But everyone is right about the protein and exercise.. I still struggle with getting enough to eat (with protein) and drinking enough water and I am doing an exercise program slowly building up to being stronger. It all takes time and believe me that is tough to swallow. Good luck 2 you and congratulations on your journey to a healthier you!!
