Happy Birthday Ann
Thank you all so very much for the sweet wishes!! I had a most excellent birthday weekend!
Friday night was a blast! After we got settled in our hotel, we headed for "the Barn" to meet up with all our reenacting friends. Fairly decent food, lots of drinking (Mike got trashed which is unusual for him). As always, I was our designated driver. There was a DJ & karaoke so Lynnie dragged me & the other girls up to sing "Respect". She took the lead & the rest of us were the doo-wop girls...lol. The singing was horrible but the choreography was perfect!! Feeling the need to redeem myself, I sang my signature song, "Crazy" & everyone was blown away. It was very flattering to have them all up on the dance floor dancing while I sang. Most of them didn't even know I could sing & Mike said he was so proud of me.
Saturday morning we all met across the street for group breakfast at our favorite diner...we go to this place every year in Gettysburg. After that it was a day filled with CW meetings. Lots accomplished, new rules introduced for a safer hobby, & lots of fellowship & new friends made. Lunch was easy faire...cold cuts, salads, soup. I slipped away around 1:30, feeling the need for a nap. Prior to that though I ducked into the Irish Shop next door to the hotel & bought Mike a new wedding ring, more appropriate for reenacting. He woke me up after the meetings were done & I gave him the ring...slipped it on his finger on bended knee...all very cute. He really likes it. So he's gonna pass his diamond band on to Chris to use for his upcoming wedding in June, if he would like to have it, rather than wait until Mike's dead & buried. Besides, it brought US 25 good years. I just talked to Amanda about it so she's gonna talk to Chris & they'll let us know this evening. Anyway, Mike & I strolled around the streets of G'burg, did a wee bit of shopping, then returned to our room to change for dinner. We wound up at a pizza place up the road with our usual crowd, & then we all headed back to the Barn for the evening. Much more laid back than Friday night, but still a good time. Didn't sleep too well, either of us...the hotel bed was horrible.
Sunday morning breakfast with the gang again...as if we don't see enough of each other all year, right? lol We all split up to make our way home & we took our time driving back. When we got home, Matt & Nino had washed my truck (the filthy beast!), Matt waxed all my hardwood floors, & they both did some major housecleaning jobs that I could NEVER do myself anymore, then they went out & bought dinner & an ice cream cake. After dinner we all watched a couple of movies, then after Mike went off to bed, the 3 of us did our WiiFit workouts. I did pretty darn good all weekend, even though I did gain a pound. But considering it was 11 pm for the weigh in...I'm not displeased. Managed to fall asleep around midnight & slept like a log!!
So that's how my birthday weekend went down. I got several text messages from family & friends, plus a couple of phone calls. All in all, a memorable birthday. And according to WiiFit, while I am chronologically 54 now, my body age is only 26!! Woo hooo!!! My weight's coming down again, slowly but surely, & tomorrow I go in for another fill. I'm bound & determined to be the hottest looking 54 year old at that wedding in June!!! LOL
