Im looking for insurance to cover the surgery. I live in Virginia. I found the Blue Cross Blue Shield of VA KeyCare Flexible Choice. It didnt have WLS as an exclusion but did list things as 'Medically Necessary." The only comorbidities that I have is NFLD.

Sugestions?

Usually you have to have a certain bmi as well. I would call them and ask what you need to qualify. I have insurance through my company at work. Sorry I could not be more of a help.

All policies have a "medically necessary) clause on them if they do carry the rider.  This being said...it can say medically necessary AND still carry the exclusion.  Call and let them know exactly what you are wanting out of the policy.  That is what they are there for.  I work for BCBS.  Let me know if you need any help!
