Dr. Moazzez
I am considering Dr. Moazzez. A friend of mine had surgery with him about 4 weeks ago, and is doing really well. Was considering Dr. Halmi, only because he was closer, but Mom put a big NO on that one. She knew someone that had surgery with him and uh...for lack of better term, did not have a very good outcome.
Would appreciate anything you all could tell me about this doctor! Also, I have Aetna Choice POS II, any ideas about how they are with this insurance?
I looked on Inova Fair Oaks and there is a seminar on Feb 11th with Dr. Moazzez. This site lists it as Feb 19th however. I will call tommmorow and post to let everyone know!
You can also check out my comments on my page and contact me with any other questions. Also, his staff....amazing.

Of course we all love our bariatric doctors! But no matter what the cir****tances, you have to be comfortable with your choice of doctor......
Good luck

Dr. Mo is my surgeon and he is awesome! I won't go into detail, but I've had some complications from my surgery and he has been right on top of everything. He pays close attention to questions, concerns, etc. He has a fantastic bedside manner...and he's REALLY good looking. LOL
As far as complications in relation to a surgeon...it's just not something that you can base your decision on. Every single surgeon has someone who either has complications because of underlying health issues or because they aren't following Dr. orders, etc. My complications are completely and utterly weird. I am the only case that Dr. Mo has had and it has absolutely nothing to do with his surgical skills, etc.
My best advice to you would be to research several surgeons in the area. Attend seminars, support groups, etc. and make the decision about your surgeon based on what you feel is right.
I researched Dr. Anez, Dr. Halmi, and Dr. Moazzez. I chose Dr. Moazzez just because I felt that he was a better fit for me as a surgeon...he's easy going, likes to joke around, etc. I like that sort of relationship with a doctor.
Good luck!

Life could not get any better than this!
I didn't have my surgery with Dr. Mo, but I have heard some very good things about him from others who had their surgeries with him.
With regard to Dr. Halmi, as Jackie and Melissa have said, he is a wonderful surgeon, and I couldn't be happier with him, Dr. Tran and their staff. I am sorry your mom's friend had a tough time, but to be fair, that can happen with any surgeon -- there are so many factors that play into the results, to include how well the individual follows the program before, during and after surgery.
I think the important thing here is this: You are a consumer and as such, you should thoroughly research any and all surgeons out there who perform the type of surgery you want. Attend their seminars, meet with them, talk to others who have had them as surgeons, etc. Be an informed consumer and patient!
Congratulations on the decision to have WLS!!!
You are an individual and he listens.
Fair Oaks Hospital Nutritionist staff along with Dr Moazzez is the best team for success. Most importantly they have a suburb anesisist. As we are overweight and are at high risk during surgery intibation. You want the best, this is your team.
If you choose Dr Halmi, I strongly recommend you do it thru Fair Oaks Hsopital and NOT NOT NOT at Potomac Hosptial. Poor quality anesisists. I know from personal
experience.
Best of luck If your insurance will approve, you should check out the Vertical sleeve gastrectomy. So glad I did it and not the band.
