Good Evening

Hi My New Friends,
I didn't do so well with the eating plan today.  I eat under stress and it was a rough day.  I have read about the 5 day pouch test but never tried it.  How good is it?  I'm afraid that I'd eat the table if I didn't have something solid to eat.  There has been a little discomfort in the section of my body of my RNY.  Although I don't think I've messed up my pouch it does make me wonder what is going on.  It doesn't hurt .... just a little discomfort.

Thanks for being here.  It's so nice to have friendly and kind people to communicate with.

Hugs

A little discomfort in the pouch area or just above it means to me I am full and should stop eating whatever I am taking in.  I don't have enough details to help you with your situation based on the data you provided in your post.

I get the impression from your member date and all that you are at least 1-2 years post-op and are eating too often or too much at each meal or both and need some support as to if you have done irrepairable damage/stretching to your relatively new pouch???

If that is the case, I at least was warned that after the magic window period (the first 12-24 months) after surgery, if we hadn't retrained ourselves on eating wisely (selection, quantity, speed, and listening to our tummy telling us when it is full), if in fact we regress to the old eating habit,...we would infact reap the same benefits we did before; abuse our body and get fat again.

The up side is, the guidance we were provided or is avaibale to us to lose after surgery still works, whether it is the two week pre-surgical liver shrinking diet regime or any phase of the post-op regiment, or even just the basics of take your vitamins, get your protein and water and move.  The body will adjust accordingly.  It is just a matter of what is most important to us; eat for pleasure or eat to live and learn to get pleasure from other activities ans or company of people.  Easier said than done I know, but  hta is what I am experiencing now at 2 yrs 5 months post-op.  In going back to my focus on protein and water, I find that my stomach is quickly recovering to its distaste for any form of fats and sweets just as in the post-op beginning,...just like it was adapting to accommodating a little sweets here (cookie(s) or a peppermint patty) and some increase in fats there (chips) and gad-zooks, I started gaining weight,...just like before surgery.  YIKES,...the magic is gone.  Applying the new wisdon must be applied to maintain and control my new found waistline and physical health.  The plan works if we work the plan; old habit get the same old results.

Sorry no magic answer, but I bet you knew that too.
Just a friendly reminder to a fellow loser that I wish the best to getting back on-track to our motto: "Nothing tastes better that being thin feels".

You can do this.  I hope you get this thing figured out and your tummy is OK.  If it keeps bothering you,..see your surgeon and get it checked.  Something might be physically wrong and its better to err on the side of caution.

Best wishes my friend,

Joe

You have to be strong to do this.  Noone ever said WLS was the easy way out.  It is a tool that you have been given and it is up to you as to how you use it.  Be strong!  Protein first, always!
