Liquid diet- the new bowel prep

Thank goodness I see Dr. Barker today, this is the 5th day I have been on his preop diet, and while I am finally not "hungry" ( the smell of food is still soooo hard though) everything I drink goes straight through me. I'm exhausted from trips to the potty. Don't know if he'll change anything, but at this rate I'll be inside out by my surgery day! On an up note (or maybe not) I'm down 9.5 pounds since Sunday!.

Did anybody dream about food preop/ or immediately post op? I had the best/worst dream about taco bell last night. Seemed so real, I almost woke up tasting it.

What is this obsession we call food? More than ever I realize what control it has over me, every waking moment thinking about, what am I going to eat next, where, etc. My life revolves around my mouth and the tastes I put in it.

Thats my "rant" for today, wish me luck this afternoon at the Dr.'s!!

Just before I did dream of surgery and just after...nothing!  I went over a year without being hungry and feeling naseous when I smelled food.  I had to force myself to eat which was very strange!  I am glad you are finally not hungry and congrats on the 9.5 lbs!  Still praying for you!
This too, you shall overcome!

Yesterday was my 3 month post op date. I'm sitting here knowing I need to eat soon and literally dreading going into the kitchen. I don't want to eat, I don't crave food, I force myself to eat and get in all the protein. Dr. Barker's post op diet works well because if I eat 100% protein foods then I have to eat less food...and I don't like food :P

Yeah if you told me that back in October I would've laughed at you, but you will soon get here and it feels great..i'm back in size 16 jeans (i was 26 preop).

I'm always here if you need anything :)

Thanks guys, while I'm not really honestly hungry, I crave taste. I am seriously dreaming about spicy stuff              (probably cause this liquid thing is all sweet), and anything savory. The pork chops my Mom cooked for her and my husband last night ( and I don't really care for them) smelled like heaven.      I can't imagine food not being attractive. I'm worried that that won't happen to me after surgery and I will still "crave" stuff somthing terrible.

I wonder how chocolate slimfast would taste with hot sauce?        Probably not.

Thanks for letting me vent. Christy, will talk soon.

I think we all worry deep down about being that one person that is still having that hungry feeling.  I do not know ANY RNY patients that have the feeling during the first year.  Occasionally there is head hunger...but nothing more!

Congrats on the 9.5 lbs!!!  I saw Dr Barker, too, and the pre op diet was pretty rough for me.  I can't remember if I dreamed about food or not, but it sure was all that I could think about, that's for sure!

Congrats on your weight loss so far, Barb! I met you at our Nov meeting at the hospital & have tried to add you  since. This website just keeps saying private, so I cant even friend request you. Maybe you can add me. Hope you are doing well & just keep going...it will be worth it in the long run.
