Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

This is my first post on the VA board.....I was told to stay with this one instead of the main board:) Anyways to those who have followed my surgery on the 17th, I'm doing great and doing a lot more than I expected during recovery. My pain has gone away completely and I have been walking 30 min everyday. I'm working up to the hour that my surgeon wants me to do. I also have been able to play with my kids and do light household chores everyday. Before surgery I didn't even come close to this amount of energy. I was having trouble with getting enough calories but when I sat down and read the book the team gave me, it said to concentrate on the protein and not worry about the cals. So now that I'm relaxed more, I can enjoy all of this weight I'm loosing:) I'm eating about 70 grams of protein and between 400-500 cals a day, I think its ok.

To all of you who can nibble on Thanksgiving dinner, enjoy! I'm going to enjoy being a cook and making my family the best food ever...lol

It is so good to see you posting!  Congrats on your progress thus far.  I am so happy for you!  You sound like you are doing GREAT on the protein and the calories.  Better than most do!  I know what you mean about bing the cook...you will enjoy that!  I have to cook turkeys this year...one store bought and one that my dad got hunting that is in the freezer!  We always have two so it is nothing new to me.  If you REALLY want something to eat on Thursday...ask your surgeon about the baby food.  I know a lot of surgeons will allow you to have a bite or two of that.  If not...enjoy those protein shakes!

Call me if you need anything.  Your hubby is nice...he is a lucky man to have you!

Scroll down to the day of and after surgery for you ...I posted for you and there are some comments on there for you!

Glad things are still going well for you!  I wish I could have visited.  I got sick and did not want to risk passing my germs along!  I can't wait to actually meet you!  We need to set up a holiday outing for all of us that can come to attend!

Glad to see your posting here now..LOL  Thanksgiving for me isn't gonna be the same. I get to eat but I'm not as excited about it as I was a month ago. Like I told you before we are here for you on this board. We are like a big family and won't give you bad advice here..

Hello and welcome to the board. You are in a good board here and we can be very supportive. You are doing good on the walking and just keep up the good work. Your body will tell you if you are doing to much and if it is full just keep listening to it. It is a wonderful tool that you have now and you will get better at.
