Calling all tattoo lovers!
Lauren,
I have 4 tattoos on my body and not even close to done getting any lol. I chose places that were only visible depending on what I wear. The places I have them are:
1. right breast\
2. back of neck
3. left back shoulder blade
4. right calf
I think you should get one wherever you feel comfortable but just remember if visible everyone will see it!! Good Luck!!

I don't have any tattoos, probably will never get one for the exact reason you're expressing here...where in the heck do you put it! I'm of the mindset that it should likely be somewhere that you have the choice of who sees it....but then that seems such a waste if only a handful of people will ever see it. As far as the professional realm....if it's tasteful and smallish you would likely be ok unless you are in a conservative line of work (like a lawyer or such). Still, as others have said....some people still have issues, make judgments about people with tattoos....others are fine with them.
Good luck and let us know what you decide!

UPDATE! I went to my consultation to discuss the design and it's feasibility. After long discussion and learning more about tattoo's and the techniques used. Pretty much it boils down to size. For the design to look the best it needs to be larger than I was figuring. Taking that into consideration I would not consider it to be on my arm. So I will go with my second preferred location lower leg/ankle area. This area is going to hurt like a mother (from what I've heard), but it's a good location and it easily covered or shown. So I'm content with that. I will be discussing the location with Nate when he gets home tonight and then will be calling the parlor back tomorrow to schedule an appt. There is a possibility that I could get it tomorrow evening, but I'm not in any rush so whatever happens happens.
Thanks everyone for your imput! It was very much appreciated. I hope people check the recent post as I don't want to clog up the boards with an update post of its own. :)

Hi! I read your update BTW~~ But here is my ideas anyways...
I have 4 tattoos. One on my right back shoulder. It is my Zodiac sign and says Lioness. It is visible if I wear cut off sleeves. I have one on my upper left arm....it is the Japanese symbol for love. My husband and I got the same tattoo after we got married. Of course that one can be visible. I have one on my upper right thigh, a panther with a diamond color. It is blackish/blue panther. My tattoo artist did it this way to give it depth to it, isnstead of a plan black panther. You keen really see the muscles and intricate details on the panther. It is pretty cool. My last one is towards the middle of my back. It is a sun with a dolphin in it and two dolphins swimming around it. That one hurt the most, on the vertibrae.
I am one that like to cover my tattoos at work. They one on my arm will sometimes be displayed, but I have a coat or sweater on when I am around the big wigs.
I have always wanted one on my ankle or foot, but I like to wear cute sandels and dresses and I do not like panty hose. You will have to take a picture and show!!

Hey Lauren!
I have one tattoo. Just got it like 3 yrs ago. I'm not sure if you remember seeing it but it is a heart with a banner running through and around it and Cameron's name is in it.
I am actually wanting to get 3 more. As a present for my surgery and my diabetes being in remission, Cameron's god mother is giving me one. I picked out a tribal butterfly, as it is the Irish symbol for rebirth and transformation. It is going to be colored the colors of the Irish flag, (left wing will be green, middle will be white and right wing will be orange). Under and between the bottom of the wings will have my surgery date. I thought, seeing the meaning of the butterfly, that it was very fitting. I am also getting a rosary around my ankle with the cross laying on top of my foot. And the final one is Cameron's name on the back of my neck.
As far as when I get these. That is a different question. Since I was such a horrible diabetic in the past, (& of course, I got reemed by my endocrinologist for getting the first one) I definitely didn't make the right choice to get it but... As much as I want them NOW, I am definitely going to wait. I still have alot more weight to lose, and I am probably going to need some sort of plastics. Unless I can find a place that won't be so affected by that, like where my other is. And I want to make sure my diabetes stays in remission.
I don't mind tattoos on people. Maybe it's stereo-typical but I do think that it is less attractive for a woman to be "covered" with them but I would never judge someone on them. I'm not really sure how it would be professionally. The industry I was in, (hotel management), it was easy to cover up. Knowing you, I am sure you will pick a design that is very tasteful and feminine and you will be sure to pick a location that is not "looked down upon". I hope you find a design you like and when you get it, let us see!

Well, I've got several tattoos, and I work in a pretty conservative corporate environment. I've got the tops of both feet done, one all around my ankle, my lower back, the back of my neck, and my shoulder. With the exception of my shoulder, they are all hummingbirds and flowers that match. I have a cupid on my shoulder with my husband's badge number.
I've never really had any negative responses to my tattoos. They're very pretty - more like jewelry - so even the stuffiest of my coworkers hasn't ever said anything.
As far as pain is concerned...the only ones that really hurt much were the ones on the top of my feet. Probably because that's the only place that didn't have much fat ;)
