I need help finding a good chewable calcium...not Viactiv as that's not calcium citrate and we can only absorb calcium citrate post op. any ideas? I have someTwin Lab Wafers and frankly I hate them so much that most days I don't take them..i know bad idea...

My Dr. says he might allow me to swallow pills at 9 months post op, but I need something to use until then...that I may actually take.

thanks

Christy

Have you looked into CalAbsorb?  One of the ladies I work with uses that, she just mixes it with water and says it tastes like fruite juice.

I know several of the women on the boards do the chewable Bariatric Advantage brand.  I have never tried them.  As soon as I was allowed (1mo post op) I started taking the calcium petites.

Good luck!

Citracal brand, calcium citrate petite size.  They are about 2/3 the size of the horse pills.  BUT the catch is that the serving size is three (NOT two) so to get 1200mg you would need to take 6 per day.  I take three at a time and because they are smaller they seem to go down easier.  :)

Edited: spelling of brand

I did not like any chewable calcium. It would get gritty in my teeth. Yuck. I took Tums with calcium until I could swallow the calcium petites.

Bariatric Advantage has three flavors...chocolate, cherry and mint...maybe cinnamon, too.  I only like the chocolate ones and use them twice daily.  They taste good and have kept my levels awesome.  I believe they will send you a sample of eash flavor if you call.  I have never taken the pills b/c I know we have difficulty absorbing them in the first place.  I have tried several kinds and this one works best for me.
