Stopped losing weight 2 1/2 weeks out

I tried to ignore it and for a few days I did, but it has now been a week and a half since I lost any weight and I'm only 4 weeks out of surgery. I feel like I'm failing at the one thing that was fail proof. I'm eating just as my Dr. says which is 30-40 grams of protein and usually ends up with about 300-400 calories and 15-20 grams of fat. I can have dairy, seafood, and poultry right now and I can add beef and pork next week. I'm finally getting in my water and I'm feeling good, but I have gained a bit for weight the last few days.

I had a terrible backache last week and wasn't able to make my walks, but 4 days ago I was able to get on my stationary bike and have done that everyday since for 40 minutes and burn 350 calories.

I just don't know what I'm doing wrong?? I have my 1 month appointment Friday and I haven't lost anything since my last appointment...I'm afraid I will be yelled at or possibly accused of doing something wrong.

Thanks for listening

Christy you are not doing anything wrong!!  It is a normal reaction your body is having.  It is saying "Hello what is going on" and taking a break to regroup.  You will start losing again.  Just keep up with your plan.  A good thing is to take your measurements, a lot of time during stalls you are losing inches.  Don't get discouraged.

I absolutely agree with Courtney 100%!  Your body needs time to catch up and regroup.  And, you are probably losing inches.  Take pictures and measurements.  Also, if you are exercising...change things up a bit...increase your water and your protein if you can.  30-40 grams seems low to me...JMO.  We were instructed to try for 60-80 grams per day, minimum.  It will pick back up...jusst be patient.  You are NOT a failure.

Thanks...I did lose some inches, but I hadn't measured since before surgery. Right now the weather prevents me from getting out and walking to change my routine, but as soon as it clears i'll get back to it...for now my bike is a good alternative.

My Dr. slowly increases the protein intake to keep the goal realistic. It increases every week for me until it gets to 90grams. He also doesn't like taking protein shakes...so far I can get it all in, but I can see it being a problem when my goal is 90grams...we'll see though.

thanks for the tips

Glad you are seeing the inches go away!  It is nice to be able to see something.

I am in awe about the way your surgeons office does the protein.  It is such an important part of healing!  It is difficult at best for me to get in what I need just thru food even now!  I STILL have at least two shakes per day of RTD protein.  I am glad you can get what you need in so far.

You can walk around the house or go to the mall and be a mall walker if you have the opportunity.  The bike is a good idea, too.

Your mind will catch up to your body soon!

Are you only eating 300-400 calories per day. At my 6 week check up  I spoke with the nutritionist about my stall at the time. She told me I was not eating enough (which led to constipation) Just a thought...but of course do what your doc says.

Hi Christy,  I have stalls all the time. I will have a week that I will lose 6 pounds then the next week or two I lose nothing. I have lost in inches though so that is good. Our bodies feel that we are starving them so it is tring it's hardest to hang on to it's fat.
Keep up the great work.

Hugs to ya, Gwen

Hey Christy, I am in the same boat as you and I am extremely frustrated by it! I have my one month appointment next Friday and I'm afraid the number won't be any lower. It is good to know I'm not the only one though. I am also in Virginia Beach and this weather makes it hard for me to get my daily walks in, but it is supposed to be nicer tomorrow. if you want to walk or exercise together let me know. It would be nice to have a friend who at about the same point as I am in their journey. Good luck!
