Pancreatitis? Anyone have this post op????

I think I might have acute pancreatitis. Has anyone had this post RNY? ?? And if so what were some of your symptoms??? And what did the doctors do to treat it???

I have gone back to taking my liquid pain meds because its the only thing that will curb the pain.  I can't sleep at night because when I lay on my back the attacks seem to come on full blast and I am up all night in pain.

I fly back to Washinton on Saturday and will see my surgeon then...but I just want to be prepared in case this is what it is.

Thanks,
Brandy

I haven't been on this board forever,  but yep I had it postop.  It was so painful the only relief I got ever was standing over my bed sorta bent at a 90 degree angle.  I was in the hospital the whole time and couldn't eat or drink anything.  Eventually they gave me a shot of demorall and that was the first relief I got.  I had pancreatitis again when my gall bladder went bad evidently my pancrease doesn't like me much.

My doctors said there isn't anything to do to treat it you just wait it out.  Both times I was on nothing by mouth orders.  Not sure its helpful, but just been there before.

Brandy,

I have not had this but have been told there is nothing they can do for it and you just have to wait it out.  I wanted to wish you luck with this and with your plastics next week.  Keep us posted and I pray all is well.

Hey, Brandy

When we spoke on Monday night I meant to mention, if you are having alot of problems and no sleep, you may want to see a Dr. here before you get on that jet home. Why don' you call your dr. out there and ask him if he thinks it should wait. So nice "meeting" you the other night at our Obesity Freedom tele-support group. Sue Baker (Facilitator-Coach)
