Not planning on moving, but feel that I need to attend a couple anyway. We have a BUNCH of people here in South Hill that have had WLS, thinking of starting one here.

I have been a regular in the past at the St. Mary's ones (every Thursday) but being so far post op I do not attend any longer on a regular basis.  They are awesome and very informative and Irene (the bariatric coordinator at the hospital) is fabulous.  I found that it was topics that I did not feel like I needed help with at well over three years post op.

Kat and I are in the process of starting a local group in Richmond the will hopefully be up and running soon.  We will post the details when all is finalized.

You can call, PM or e mail me anytime you need something and I will be here for you.  It looks like you are a Dale Jr fan?  I am a HUGE June Bug fan and have been for years.  Hubby and I go to RIR every year for all of the races.  You are on the right track!

My photo you are refering to is my and Rick Hendrick. He is from South Hill and that is how I get into most races. Thats how I get to fly into them on the helicopter, etc. Got to pull for them. Actually I have always pulled for Jeff Gordon, my first race I attended was in Charlotte and I was sitting in the suite next to Jeff before he starting with the team. Just decided to pull for him since he was the first driver I had met.

Well, I am not as lucky as you are...have never received any VIP treatment at a race...but would love to.  I would especially enjoy meeting Dale Jr or any of the Hendrick drivers.  Let me know if you have any free time when you come to Richmond and we could meet up.  We are there all day for both race days.  We live only about 10 minutes from the track, so it is convenient.  We have been to several other tracks but it gets too expensive now so we tend to stay just at Richmond.

I love the idea of your starting a support group in your area.  I have not heard of any being down that way.  If I can do anything to help you, please let me know!  I wish you all the luck.  If you do decide to attend a meeting here in Richmond...let me know in advance.  I will try my best to make it to that meeting to meet you.  I try and attend at least one a year!

Hi Ken,

As a personal preference I do not attend the support group meetings at St. Mary's anymore. I did for a time and they were helpful to a point. Feel free to post to us as a whole, private message us etc. I'm glad you're doing well.

Yo Ken,
If youre interested in starting a group down your way, let me know. I'd be glad to help you.
I'd also be gald to come visit sometime if you'd like.  I think I'm about 1 hr or so north east of you and come to Lawrenceville on Church assignments sometimes anyways.  Col Hghts is on the north border of Peterburg, 30 mins south of Richmond.

I di a support group up here that was struggling and kept it going for also another year before we got down to me and 2 others, then opur meeting place started getting overbooked and we wound up just disbanding.  I really enjoyed working with others and be glad to give you a hand and some support on your own turf.

I went the St. Mary's meeting for about the first 3 months after surgery.  But after their facilitiators changed, I didn't enjoy them or feel like I was getting as much from going.

You do what you feel good about.  I'm here if you want hook up.  You can PM me from my OH blog/homepage or use my email, [email protected].

I bet some of our cyber VA board celebrities would be glad to make a guest appearance too, on occassion.

I say, lets do it. I want to see if the local hosptial will let us use their education facilities. I would your help. Let me see what dates are available for the meeting room and I will get back with you. Not sure how to contact each of the local WLS patients, myabe if they signed a release, they will send the info to them for us. I know there are people over in South Boston and Scottsville, etc.

We are 50 minutes from Colonial Heights and 20 minutes from L'ville.

Hey Ken! Glad to see you posting. Hope everything is going well with you and that you are having a great recovery. I actually go to our group's meetings at St Mary's. They have one every Thursday, for different groups but the one I go to is "Forever Thin", which is the 2nd Tuesday of each month. I plan on being there in a couple weeks as well as to the third Thursday meeting too, which is geared more towards "behavorial", if I'm not mistaken. The white book you get from the office should have the listings of all the meetings but if you need it, let me know. I'd be happy to pm it to you.

Hope to see ya at the meeting in a couple weeks and good luck with everything. If you need anything or have questions, just give me a pm.
