Purge the junk food from your pantry.

Have you noticed that no matter how hard you try to keep junk food out of your house, somehow the bad stuff creeps back in? Once it's in the house, junk food is much harder to resist. And once you put that first bite in your body, the ability to resist the second and third is harder still.

Every once in awhile, go through your cupboards and get rid of the junk food that has accumulated. Your health and sanity are worth it.

Action for the day: Vow to purge your cupboard of junk food today. If you feel resistant, ask a friend to come over and help you do it.

This is something I've actually been working VERY diligently on. I no longer buy snacky type cakes and such. I purposely try not to buy any ice cream unless its no sugar added. Recently I did purchase a 1/2 gallon of ice cream because it was free after spending $20 which is EASY to do on groceries. I personally cannot eat ice cream. In addition, this is not the best time of year candy wise since there are so many events we have and will be attending and the buggas just from the first one got a TON of candy. Funny how it seems to disappear. Thankfully I dump so I know better. I must confess though I chew gum and spit it out like crazy! Seriously though if its not here I don't think about it nor is the temptation strong to eat it. :)

This is a great idea!  I have gotten better at it but it is hard when you live with other people that still eat that kind of stuff.  I can not and will not force my eating habits (OK...for the most part) on them.  I cook the majority of the meals and do so in a healthy manner.  Kara has taken to not snacking much at all but hubby and father still feel the need to eat junk!  We are working on this.  Thanks for the reminder!

Having a wife and teenagers that are not post-op gastric bypass, junk food is inevidable, however, my post-op eating habits have gretly influnced their choice of junk as they smaple my food sources.  poptarts are about the only real junk that still exists.  Most everthing else has transitioned to various granola and nut bars, PB crackers, baked chips, bananas and strawberries, and they even now prefer the splenda and fat free ice creams.  I went thru a short SF Fat Free ice cream phase bu the lactose intolerance still made ice cream a no go for me beyond maybe a cup full occassionally.  We actually have ice cream in the freezer that has been there so long it may need to be tossed from freezer burn.. Thats a first and maybe a family WOW moment we haven't acknowledged yet.

Purge your pantries and draw your battle lines.  I don't do those foods anymore.
Good advice to incorporate.

This is SOOOO true for me! This is the only way to stop me from eating it I'm too lazy to go out and buy it when I get a craving...

Of course, being single helps in this area! (but I'm willing to give up that advantage if you know any cute single guys...
