Your thoughts/suggestions/advice ....
Hi Joe,
This sounds like a good idea for me. I will give this a try and see if it helps with the meats.

Hey, Kat:
(1) Cheeses: I do okay with mild cheddar and american (yes, I know..yellow), but don't tolerate much else. Not sure why.
(2) Yogurt: Without a doubt, the Greek yogurts are the best. Thick like you like them and full of protein. Right now I am eating the Chobani brand, non fat and unflavored.
(3) I tend to use things like Egg Beaters. Haven't had a problem stomaching them to date.
(4) Tuna, or any kind of "seafood": I can't stomach seafood of any kind -- any fish, actually, but I couldn't before surgery either, so I am sorry, no suggestions there.
(5) Fruit: I love berries -- strawberries, blueberries and blackberries of late. I have no problem finding any of them in the stores, and they are all high in antioxidants, which is a good thing.
(6) Veggies: I love salads, though I can't tolerate cucumbers or carrots. Broccoli works for me, along with green beans and squash (all kinds so far).
(7) I don't have much luck with meats, especially red meat. I tend to have chicken in a soup (nice and moist), I can tolerate ground turkey in chili, marinated and shredded pork works (i.e., carnitas), but aside from that, I stay away from meats because I haven't had much luck with them. That said, I was never a big meat eater pre-WLS either.
Looking at this, I really lead a boring life!!! hehe But, this is what works for me, so I stick with it and don't find it difficult to live with. I try to mix things in with the yogurt for variety. When I go out, I do eat regular meals, concentrating on proteins first and staying away from carbs. As you well know, everyone tolerates things differently...but I hope this is of some help. :)

Hey Cindy,
Thanks for replying! The cheese situation is odd. Dad had WLS 6 months after me and he cannot do yellow cheeses either. In fact, he's never been able to unless finely cooked into something where its barely noticable.
Where do I find the Chobani yogurts?
I HEART seafood! I used to eat Tuna ALL the time before WLS and then after for a bit and now boo hoo!
I don't do carrots or cucs either. Broccoli is a no go.
We are the same with chicken. Now I use Morning Star meat for my soups and chili. I used to use ground turkey but now I cannot stomach the smell much less the taste.
You HAVE helped! So, THANKS!

Hey, Kat:
I am not sure where you can find the Chobani (http://www.chobani.com/) down your way....maybe Ukrops or Krogers? Up here I get it at Giant. BUT either Fage (http://www.fageusa.com/index.html#/products/) or Oikos (http://www.oikosorganic.com/) are very good too...I just make sure I stick with the non fat, unflavored because the others are pretty high in sugar (the fruit/flavoring, I am guessing). I add Splenda, fresh fruit and/or something like Kashi Go Lean (a couple of tablespoons for some crunchiness) to it....even started liking ground flax seed (sounds gross, but very nutty flavor) that gives me the Omega 3s that I don't get because of not eating fish.
Hope that helps! :)

Hey sweetie. I am sorry your tummy is not loving you. I do not eat food, so not sure what to tell ya. You could always get a feeding tube and do boost low sugar. Yummy in the 2nd belly. You never taste it. LOL. I am so sorry your having a hard time. I completely understand, hopefully one day I will be brave enough to try food again....

Hi Brooke,
Thanks for replying! I hope things improve for you and soon. I will continue to work on my eating and change things up. Things will come together. I have gotten some great support and advice so I've got things to try and I'm sure I'll find them a great assest to my diet.

Okay! Well I have heard of others whose tolerance to thinks suddenly change but it does seem odd to be happening 6 years out. Perhaps a check up with the doctor/nutritionist to see if something is going on.
I don't have too much problems tolerating anything so I eat everything. Here are some ideas from what I do.
1) Cheese - I do sliced, I do cubed, I do off the block, do a lot of shredded in my meals
2) Yogurt - I like Dannon LIght & Fit, lots of different flavors, but probably too high in sugars for you.
3) Eggs - no problems here, like scrambled, fried
4) Tuna - works for me, perhaps you could try egg salad or chicken salad. I love to bbq chicken with some great flavors (or cook it with italian dressing) then shred it up for salad
5) Fruit - apples & bananas & dole jar peaches for fall/winter, melons & strawberrie & pineapple & bananas for summer/spring
6) Veggies - yelow squash, zuchinni (great sauteed with some cheese, onion, tomato), broccoli, green beans, peas, mixed veggies
7) Meats - most all works for me (sometimes have issues with pork) love to do chicken or ground beef with enchilada sauce.
