Hey Mom,

You're doing a great job. I'm glad you can stick to the gym. Its not something I'm interested in. But, you are noticing a difference in inches, some lb lost and definitely clothes sizes going down. Again, its the little things that make up the overall picture and difference. See? Soon you'll be able to keep up with me while walking!

Thanks for sharing!

i'm 15 weeks post op.  already i have realized that i must exercise to lose more than 1 pound each week.  pre-op-- i walked the neighborhood with the kids 1 mile.
post op- i walk while the kids ride their bikes, ride my bike-- 2 miles now b/c i do both directions from my house. also i do the treadmill 4-5 times a week for 30 minutes each. sometimes i mixed the treadmill with exercise videos.  still 25-45 mintues each.  i've just started to work with arm weights to tone my arms.  usually 15 minutes after the cardio.
also, thanks for the advice on the avatar.

Hey Tiff,

You're welcome and it sounds like you are doing great with exercising. I've been learning and asking a lot about this topic because I need new, interesting and stimulating changes in my exercise plans. I love walking around the neighborhood with my buggas! They really get to explore and learn and we take a different path each time so its something new and different happening as things change.

What type of videos are you doing for exercise? Anything you'd like to share with us?

Thanks for sharing!

I am 3 weeks post-op, will be 1 month on Friday.  At the moment I walk daily around my neighborhood for about 30 minutes.  I have my 1 month post-op follow-up on Wednesday and am hoping I get the ok to start doing more.  The weight isn't coming off as quickly as I would like it to and I think it is an exercise issue.

Prior to WLS I had a personal trainer that I LOVED working with.  Unfortunately she moved across the country.  I would love to start working with someone again, I really benefit from the extra motivation.

Hey Amanda,

Thats wonderful! Walking for 30 minutes will come along with more time, faster walking and lots more sweating. :) Change up your exercise and up your protein. Almost always doing both brings the lb down. Keep in mind you are losing inches as well. A good thing to keep up with is pictures. To be honest, it was one of the only ways I could personally tell a difference in myself.

I have heard many folks saying they've had great personal trainers and they have moved or what have you. It might be tough to find another without a little help. So, if anyone can suggest a personal trainer please do!

Thanks for sharing!

I know I should exercise more, but this is what I currently do.

I walk 3 days per week for 30 minutes on my lunch break. Then 1-2 days per week I take the family to the YMCA. I usually swim, cardio, and/or walk again.

What is your status in this journey? (pre-op/post-op with weeks, months, years)
Almost 3 years post op

What is your exercise regimen and what does it include?
try to hit the gym 3 - 4 times a week for cardio & some weight training, also extra walking through out the week

How often do you change up your regimen?
A few times a month will throw in a class or two, also due to hectic life I may back off of the gym for a few weeks.

Based on where you are in your WLS journey what exercises have been right for you where you are? Making the effort to continue with it and keep up with it makes a big difference, without following the program, I will not maintain.  Kind of feel like as long as I am exercising and doing things I would have never done before, it is right for me.
