Brooke,
In my opinion...yep, I would cut it. When you see shorter pieces it tends to make it easier for others to see. I did cut mine from thigh lenght to above shoulder length but it was almost two years after surgery. I did it for ease and comfort not because it was falling out. I dontaed it to locks of love. I looked at it as I was getting a "newer" looking me to go with my "newer" looking body!

Life could not get any better than this!
Brooke, I agree with Tammy here. I too went through this. I cut mine to just above my shoulders and took Biotin supplements as well. If you don't want to cut it tremendously, considering have it trimmed quite a bit so that it gets your hair cleaned up a bit. This will pass and is normal and has a lot to do with anesthesia from surgery and our body catching up with everything.
All best!

thanks so much ladies. Looks like I will cut it. Kat I will get the supplement too. Anything to help it. All Dr. Hutcher told me was that I should not loose as much hair as he did. lol. Alex needs a hair cut so I will get one with him tomorrow. Thanks!

You MIGHT want to cut it, but it is still going to fall out. I cut mine about a month out of surgery (and like Tammy, donated it to Locks of Love (well, actually at her suggestion
)) because it was falling out. I cut 10 inches off though, and got SO annoyed, because people were noticing my weight loss, but the ONLY question I got was, "did you get a new haircut??" Of course, I had to answer "yes I did". What I wanted to say was, "yes I did, but you're noticing that I'm losing weight." I guess you kind of have to weigh one against the other.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Hi Brooke,
My hair started to fall out on the 3rd month and now that I am 7 months out it finally stopped. I took biotin everyday, actually I started taking it 3 months before my surgery. Yeah I agree ,cut your hair and it won't be as noticeable when it falls out. Send us a picture of the new you.

Dear Almost Hairless,
Try wearing a fuzzy shirt so the fur won't be noticed!
All kidding aside, I lost massive amounts of hair too. Although cutting it did not make me shed less, with the weight loss and a new haircut it boosted my confidence. You can have an inch taken off..nothing too dramatic unless you want to.
As others said Protein, water and vitamins are always a must. How long will you be on the feeding tube?
