Tami,

Hi.... I just notice you were from Richmond. I am moving to Fort Lee area in 2 weeks and don't know anyone in the area. Also ... do you know if there are any support groups in the area.

Brandy,

Hello!  I would love to meet you when you get here and get settled!  I am not too far away from Ft. Lee at all.

As for support groups, I know there is one at St. Mary's Hospital (where I had surgery) that meets every Thursday for RNY patients.  They do have a special one )on Monday's I think) for lap bands.  I have not been in a while becasue for me being so far out they tend to cover a lot of the stuff that is for less than a year post op.  JMO.  I love the people there and do recommend them very much.  I also know ther is one that meets at MCV but I have never been and do not know the details.  Also Kat (KittyKat) and I are in the process of starting our own support group here in Richmond.  We are getting certified and will be up and running before long.  More details to come!

Let me know what I can do to help you once you get here.  I am always available!

Hi Tammy! Could you please post the info about the bracelet that you got from the local jewelers. I am seriously thinking about getting one but would actually like to go to a jewelry store to see one before I purchase it to make sure it is big enough to put on it what I need. To me, they always seem too small to include multiple things especially if you have many things to list. I am also a bit concerned that ordering one from online or a catalog, it may end up looking like a charm bracelet and not a med alert. So any information you can share will be appreciative. Thanks!

Hi Theresa.  Great new avitar!  I use Steven's Jewelers in the West End (Gold's Gym Plaza on West Broad near chuck e cheeses).  They have several sizes in both Gold and Silver.  Depending on what you get depends on price.  I paid $85.00 for that one and it is silver.  It is medium sized and has everything I need on it.  Remember, some things can be abbreviated.  If you want, PM me with what you NEED on there and what you WANT on there and I will help you put it in a good order with the acceptable abbreviations.  I think everyone with ANY health issues should have one and also carry a card in their wallet.  Good for you for being proactive!
