I picked up a bottle from the Vitamin Shoppe. It was the Twin Lab Wafers. Now I just looked at my Dr.'s recommended dose. He says take 4 500mg doses a day so that would be 8 wafers a day and there is 60 in the bottle which is just over a weeks worth??? WOW!!! The bottle was $13 and I figured it would be good for a month. hmmm...

does anyone have a better source of the calcium citrate? or a better price for the Twin lab wafers?

Thanks for your help

Christy

I go to Costco and get the store brand of the Viactiv chews for about $8.00 per two month supply.  I also use bariatric advantage chewables when I can afford them, but they are a bit pricy when you add all the other vitamins in, too.

I use Caltrate from Walmart or Sam's.

Thanks for the suggestions, but my Dr. recommends calcium citrate and both of those have calcium carbonate which isn't as easily absorbed postop. Guess I'll keep looking :)

Try the ones from bariatric advantage.  I love the chocolate chewables and the cherry ones are pretty good, too.  Let me know if they will work for you!

I found that too.  Pretty much if you want to chew it, you're going to be wolfing down a bottle of that stuff a week, which is my opinion is A. Nasty and B. Expensive.  I suggest just trying the pill form.  I use Citracal Calcium Citrate Petites and you would need to take 10 per day!  HOLY COW!  I buy the 200 tablet size bottle at Walmart, but can't remember how much it is.  I guess with such a high suggested dosage I would go to the regular Citracel Calcium Citrates which would be 7 pills.  ***Can someone check my count on that?  I don't still have a bottle of those lying around***

Good Luck!

I usually buy them in bulk from Vitamin Shoppe.com. I get them for about $8 a bottle that way. Plus I earn frequent flyer miles (which is really all I care about anyway).

Do you have a flexible spending account? My doctor filled out a form and I can submit for my vitamins. Kind of softens the blow since I get them with pre-tax dollars and when I buy in bulk, I get the money right back.

It kind of sucks how much they cost....but think of what you're saving in food.

I had weight loss surgery. I did it the easy way.

I use upcal D (it is a powder that mixes in liquid) although some just put it on their tongue like a pixie stick.
