Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone knows what day and time the support group meetings are for gastric bypass at St. Marys hospital. I am feeling I need to start attending them. I was going to one at John Randolph but that has been discontinued. Thanks!

Brooke,

They are on Thursday nights.  They have one on each Thursday of the month with different topics.  I know one week is nutritional, one week is the main group, etc.

Also, fyi, Kat and I are in the process of starting a group here in Richmond so stay tuned!

They have support group - once a week?  Holy crike, that's alot.  I can't imagine how they would find enough topics or people to attend.  I love going to my once a month support group, but we only have a small group of people who are regulars.  I would definatley be interested in going to one more often.  I can't wait to see what you and Kat put together.  :)

Hey Brooke! I am interested in continuing to go to these meetings if you want to meet up @ the hospital to go. The following schedule is straight out of Commonwealth Surgeon's handy dandy white "Patient Handook to Weight Loss Surgey @ St Mary's Hospital".

1st & 3rd Thursday of the month: Open to all post op patients looking for additional emotional & behavioral support when adapting to a new lifestyle. Meetings are from 6:30-8:00 in the Education Center.

2nd Thursday of the month: Forever Thin Support Group. Open to all surgical weight loss ptients whether you're thinking about the surgery, just had the surgery or are years out from the surgery. It's an opportunity to learn more from other members. Family members & friends are also welcomed to this meeting. Meetings are from 7:00-9:00 in Room 164.

4th Thursday of the month: Open to all PRE & POST op patients wishing to learn more about proper nutrition and supporting your weight loss goals. Meetings are from 6:30-8:00 in the Education Center.

2nd Mondays of the month: Open to all lap band patients or individuals considering the surgery as their weight loss tool. Meetings are from 7:00-8:30 in room 164

Just let me know. Since I am starting school in 2 weeks, near the hospital, I could get dinner before the meeting and meet ya there in plenty of time.

ETA: I didn't see that Kat posted the same as me. Guess great minds think alike!!! hehe

That would be great. I start school on the 15th so I would love an evening out, even if it is for a support group meeting, lol. You have my number so just give me a call over the weekend and we can finalize everything. Can't wait to meet ya!
