Ok....Breath
So, I just looked at my calendar and it is 2 weeks until my surgery. WOW!!! TWO WEEKS!! Ok, actually it's closer to 3, but its two weeks until I am off of work and doing all my pre-op prep stuff. So I am counting that.
I am dragging ALOT today. I didn't get much sleep and I didn't eat well yesterday and I think I am paying for it today. I had real sugar for the first time in a couple of weeks and I think my body just went WHAT? I also had more carbs then I should have, which might explain the sluggishness (is that a word?). I just hope I am not getting another cold. I can't afford that right now. I taught a rubber stamping class on Friday night and one of my friends showed up and halfway through the class I realized that she was sneezing and coughing and had a terrible cold. Great! I feel horrible that she was sick and wish her a speedy recovery, but did she have to share? I catch colds pretty easily and if I get sick right now, it might postpone my surgery and that has already happened once.
This is going to be my busiest week pre-surgery. I have appointments almost everyday this week. I was planning to go to the support group meeting at Fair Oaks Hospital tonight, I haven't been to any support group meetings yet and there aren't any more that I know of before my surgery. At the moment I am really not feeling up to it. I have my one-on-one with my nut tomorrow along with my 2nd sleep study and my pre-op with Dr. Moazzez on Wednesday morning and my Upper GI on Friday. WOW, it exhausts me to just think about all of this going on this week. I am going to need to surgery recovery time just to rest up from the pre-op stuff. I just wish I felt better today.
I'm sorry I am such a Debbie Downer today. That supper excited feeling was finally replacing the nervous, scared, I'm going to throw-up feeling. I hope I am just tired. On the positive side, I am still slowing losing my required pre-op weight, down 12 lbs and I haven't had a diet coke in over a week and so far, I am surviving!!!
Thanks for letting me vent.

Congrats on being just two weeks away! That time will fly by and you will be on the losers bench before you know it.
You are correct in that you are probably dragging from eating too many carbs and having sugar. Let this be a lesson in that post op it will hit you 100 times harder if you do these things. Enjoy this time and I am extra proud of you staying away from the diet cokes. They are wasted calories and nothing that you need.
As for the cold, I highly recommend you taking some mucinex d NOW to help combat what you may have already gotten or what may be coming your way. It is the only thing that works for me. It is a little pricy but worth it to me since it really does work!
Good lucl with all of your pre op things and appointments. The time will fly by and your day will be here before you know it!

Amanda! Your surgery will be here before you know it and you can get all this anxiety over with!
We all worried about getting colds etc before surgery but unless you are very ill with it or have breathing issues they will still do surgery so try to relax a little... I had a huge cold sore in the middle of my lip but they still did surgery lol!!
And yes, after staying away from sugar and carbs, now eating them will make you sluggish! And as someone else said - far worse after surgery! So try to stay away from them if you can - I know it is not easy...
This week will be a tough week but then your preop stuff will all be over... and it always feels good to get it out of the way with!
And don't apologize for being nervous - we all went through that I can assure you! I was scared witless for a while but then I decided it was all going to be fine and refused to worry about it any more - I saw all the people who had gone before me and they all looked fine. It is a pity you can't get to a support group before surgery as that would make you feel so much better...... please try and attend some when your surgery is over as they really do help people....
This ia a great board if you want to ask any questions everyone is available to help you - please don't hesitate to reach out to any one of us - we have all been where you have been and are all happy to tell you our stories....
Just keep focusing on the goal which is to be healthier and happier - you can do this!

Thanks Everyone!!! As the day goes on I am starting to feel better. Getting my water into my system and I can feel the carb and sugar coma lifting. I will probably make the support group tonight, which I have been looking forward too. My husband is going with me, which I think is great. He hears from others much better then he hears me sometimes. He is trying so hard, he just doesn't get it as he is 6'2" and 175. Poor guy, I just got him trained to get me diet cokes and now he has to retrain his brain not to ask!!! I am getting really excited and have started to dream about the surgery. Can you tell I am obsessed?

Nerves are so typical, and totally expected with a major surgery, Amanda, don't let it get to you. It sounds like you have everything moving along as they should (which is great. Just make sure you take good care of yourself, do what the surgeon and nutritionist have asked you to do, and you should be ready to go in two weeks! It sounds like you have a wonderful, supportive husband and that is a "biggie!" Hats off to him, and to you. Enjoy the support group meeting tonight, they really do make a big difference in helping you before and after the surgery. Take care, and let us know how you are doing! :)
