12 week follow up-Vit D/parathyroid question

I had my 12 week check-up today. I thought I was losing slower than others but nut said I was "above average", so that sounds good to me. They did change all my vitamins. No more kids chewable, but now take Centrum. No more tums ex, but now take calcium citrate. I have to start taking iron, even though my levels were pretty normal. I'm taking biotin for the hair loss.

I also have to take Vitamin D again. I was only 1 point away from the required amount, but my parathyroid level was high and they said this was caused by low Vit D. I have been researching this on the internet today. This is very confusing. Does anyone has experience with this?

All my labs came back great, except for the 1 point off on Vit D. I asked about the protein, and she said my levels were acceptable. I used the drink the bullets, but now have 1 EAS shake per day and 1 Pure protein bar in addition to what I eat. So I'm getting in about 70 grams per day.

Thanks for reading, Penny

Good am Penny,

What a great check up! As for the Vitamin D I've not had a problem with this but certainly hope other folks can shed light on it. I would consider talking with a nutritionist and get some ideas there as well.

Awesome news!  I had low Vit D at my last check up and so I now take my normal a and d pill daily and my doc also added a once a month booster pill.  I recheck next month, so we weill see!  Up your milk if you can and make sure you get at least 15 minutes of sumlight every day.  This also boosts the levels.

Hi Penny,
I don't have any experience with parathyroid levels. I was just put on Vit D. I take it once a week for 8 weeks then once a month thereafter.
I get 15 minutes of sun exposure---without sunscreen. Just don't go out in the height of the days sun. I drink plenty of milk too.

Biotin did nothing for my hair loss. I swore I was going to go bald between months 3-6!

Your weight loss is great! I'm so proud of you!
