I dont think I have ever been in so much pain in all my life!!!

It's quite possible that I have gallstones or kidne stones. The pain and discharges started about 2 weeks ago and have continued to grow worse daily. Today I had to call out of work and although I called early this morning for an appointment, tey werent able to offer me one untill Thursday!!! I was in hysterics and sobbing from pain about an hour ago and I finally took some pain medicine and Im awaiting my husband to get off work so I can go to the ER.

My question is...is this typical following WLS ?

Where is the pain?  But no pain is not normal.  You need to go to the ER.  Did you try an schedule with your surgeon or your PCP?  I know how military appointments can be and it is a pain!

Oh Brandi! I am so sorry that you are in such pain. I, fortunately, do not know what kidney stones feel like, never having them myself but... My ex husband had them when we were together and I remember him flopping around like a fish out of water, it hurt so bad. I hope hubby makes it home soon and that the ER is able to do something quick for you!

Prayers coming your way. Keep us posted!

OOOUCH!!! Cameron was big, so I thought. He was 8lb 14 oz and was 27 1/2 inches long. But he got stuck so I had a c-section. Thank god. He was way to long.... lol

That is unacceptable!  Definately go to the ER if your pain persists or becomes more severe.  There is no reason to suffer until Thursday, there could be something really going on!  I hope all gets better and let us know how you are doing.

Gallstones can happen often after the rapid weight loss that follows WLS. My doctor had us on Actigall for 6 months after surgery. Did they do an ultrasound of your gall bladder before surgery?

Got this from women's health:

One major study found that women who lost from 9 to 22 pounds (over a 2-year period) were 44 percent more likely to develop gallstones than women who did not lose weight. Women who lost more than 22 pounds were almost twice as likely to develop gallstones.

Bottom line is that if you are in that kind of pain you should probably go to the Emergency Room.

I had weight loss surgery. I did it the easy way.

My surgeon removes the gallbladder at the time of surgery if you still have it for this reason.  I did have Kidney Stones after surgery and it was one of the most painful things I have ever been through.  It was so bad that the ER took me straight to the back from triage (and even moved me to the front of the line for triage) just as if I were having a heart attack or had been brought in via ambulance.  I was given Dilaudid (which we discovered I was allergic to) and was in quite a bit of pain for sometime.  Do not delay.  Go to the ER ASAP.

I agree with the others, get to the ER.   Gallstones & Kidney stones are very common after surgery.  Although in presurgery testing my gallbladder seemed fine, about 9 months later I had issues (probably started before that but that was when it really hit me).  If you haven't already gone to the ER, don't settle for the bloodwork, make sure to request a gallbladder ultrasound, the bloodwork  will only show positive if a stone has dislodged into your system, not if the stones & sludge are at the opeining.  Hope you get an answer & feel better soon.
