Hi All, just a quick update,  I am 2 months out as of today. I am down 52 pounds. WOW   I have been struggling with eating slow, but doing pretty well otherwise. I am getting my protein, vitamins and water in so thats good.  I had a salad last night for the first time and it settled pretty good.  So I think I just need to slow down when eating. I know CHEW CHEW CHEW.  Thats seems to be giving me a fit too( the chewing thing) I guess It will just take some time getting used to my new way of eating after 37 years of doing things one way might take a few months to break old habits. I feel so lucky that for the most part things are going so well. Have a GREAT day, Love to you all, Lanette

Lanette,

Congrats!  I am 3+ years post op and still have times that the chewing and eating slow is an issue.  I just have to think about it and not be talking too much while eating or I forget!

WOW  great progress so far.  Yes retraining your eating speed and amount of chewing takes time.  It's annoying, but you will learn that it makes things so much easier.  I immediately know when I've eaten too fast or have not chewed enough.  I get that sicky lump in my pouchie feeling.  Ugg.

So good to hear an update from you!  :)

Congrats on your wonderful weight loss so far!!  I was always good at eating slow, just not the chewing part.  I keep wanting to swallow the food, knowing I need to chew more.  Keep up te great work.

Hiya Lanette,

You are doing great! 52lbs is awesome! You might find it easier if you set yourself a timer that goes off every 30 seconds and when it goes off you eat a bite and don't eat another one until the 30 sec alarm goes off again. This is VERY effective at slowing down your eating..... I used to use it all the time and used a device whose name escapes me but it really helped me to slow down.

Hope this helps as it was something I struggled with too!

Lanette, that's such great news!  As you've already read, even long-timers still struggle with the chewing thing.  If I get excited or feel rushed or get to gabbing, I pay for it too.  My food gets stuck & boy does that hurt.  That's usually followed with up chucking to get rid of the log jam...lol.  So just keep working on it...it will improve with practice.

Hugs!
Ann

52lbs lost is great, getting in your protein, vits and water is AWESOME!! The only thing you didn't mention is exercise. How's that going?

I'm so proud of you!
