Dr update on me & update on Cameron
Today I had my first doctor appointment with my endocrinologist (diabetic dr) since about 3 weeks before surgery. According to their scale, my weight has stayed about the same since my last visit with my surgeon, about a month ago, but I KNOW the inches are dropping because I am fitting in clothes now that I have not fit in before surgery. Back to topic..... We checked my sugar and my non fasting (this was taken at 1145) was 141. She ordered the standard blood work that she always orders and then a bunch of other stuff that she wanted to check, things she said my surgeon would check in a few weeks. According to her, if, when the blood work comes back by Wednesday, and my A1-C is 7 or below, she will declare that my diabetes is in remission. I am no longer needing the insulin on a daily basis, and haven't since I came home from the hospital after my surgery. I do however, have Humulog to use if my sugar is to ever go over 200, and it is used on a sliding scale. The one thing, months ago, I knew would kill me, is now the one thing that was the first to improve. I can not begin to believe that this has improved SO MUCH SO SOON!!!
Now on to just as important things. Cameron!!! We had his appointment at St Mary's today, with his ENT. He has massive ear infections in both ears. His tubes are still in place, thank god, but the antibiotics aren't working as fast as the dr's would think. So he prescribed a new antibiotic ear drop and to finish the oral antibiotics. I am to give it 7 day and if no improvement, then we will take the next step, IV antibiotics. He is feeling better, not in too much pain but he knows something isn't right. I pray he gets better soon. And that he doesn't have to have the iv antibiotics. It would spoil his whole summer.
Thanks to everyone who has said prayers for him and sent well wishes. We both very much appreciate them. It means alot to us! Thanks for reading!!

Good am Theresa,
Positive notes on you and Cameron!! You'll be remission from Diabetes before you know it and glad his tubes are still in place. In addition, I went through that antibiotics not working either initially and had to go on steroids. Hope its not the case for your lil' man. I will keep ya'll in my prayers. Btw, I have something for to pass along to you for Cameron when you have some time.
Hugs....

Oh thanks so much for all the positive notes and prayers. He can definitely use them. I am so amazed at how fast things have changed since surgery. It is just so unbelievable. I am seeing a bit of improvement with the antibiotic ear drops so hopefully he is on his way to getting better. Thanks again for the prayers.
Ok...let's start with you - RIGHT ON!!!! Sounds like your health is definately improving - which was the purpose of the surgery. I'm excited for you (I have goosebumps) because I KNOW how much this meant to you and know that you will be successful and healthy!
Keep up the great work you have been doing. You have been doing a fantastic job at becoming physically active and I am really proud of you. You've had some challenges, but figured out ways around them.
Ok...poor Cameron. That just stinks. What a rotten way to spend the summer. I am so sorry that he is having this problem. Like I said before, i just hate it when they get sick, becuase there really isn't much that you can do (plus they are SO whiney - hehe). I hope he gets better quick so he can salvage some of his summer.

I am definitely trying to do the right things and when I don't, I definitely try to acknowledge that and improve on the bad. Thank you so much for the kind words.
Having this surgery is doing things that I could have NEVER imagined. Yes, I imagined that things would get better, eventually and maybe only somewhat and I was more than content with that but... To have come the distance that I have, in 10 weeks, to me is amazing. I was on 1000 units a day, 4 shots a day, just for my diabetes. Even on that much insulin, my sugars were, on average, 300-500. Now, post op, with no insulin, they average between 130-160. I am completely astounded.
The physically active part just blows me away as well. I used to need a breathing treatment after walking to my bathroom. Now, I walk miles a day and even work out. And I ENJOY it. And even better. I look forward to it.
I am a completely different person. I used to have this saying, "those that change were never real to begin with". Well NOT ANY LONGER. Now it is, "those that change, were never really themselves before". I am on my way to finding who and what I am supposed to be and it feels absolutely amazing. Thank you for all your encouragement. Coming from you, it truly means alot.
