I'm home
I'm finally home from the hospital. My surgery was Wed. and Wed. night through Thur. morning I was feeling so well it was amazing. Then Thur. evening hit. I had been so focused on walking my laps (I set a new hospital female record - 82 laps, over 5 miles) that I had neglected getting my liquids in. So when they brought me the Carnation Instant Breakfast Thur. night and I tried it, it did not go so well. I was so sick and and nauseous all night - I finally got some pain and nauseau medication only to wake up at 4 a.m. in tears needing some more. So when Dr. Elliot came to discharge me at 8 this morning, he said I had to prove I could stay hydrated before he sent me home, and pushed me back to clear liquids. He said he would check on me at 12 - by 10 I was so sick again I got more nausea and pain medication, so the nurse had to call my dr. and he pushed back my possible discharge to 4. So my mom and I carefully kept track of my liquids all day and finally around 3 I was cleared to go home!
So I came home with my Gas-X, my pain medicine, and my nausea stuff among others. Clear liquids still hurt, so I'm staying on them for a while longer before I can move to full liquids. Dr. E said I was ok on them for up to a week. I'm tired of feeling yucky and have been grumpy with my poor mother who has been nothing short of a saint. I know this, too shall pass - and I'm ready!
Thanks again for all of your support - I probably won't be around much for the next few days. Just wanted to let you know I made it home.

Hi Sarah - glad that you are home! Yes it is very very important to sip sip sip - we become dehydrated very fast once we have RNY and you do need to keep a track on your liquid intake. Don't forget to start taking your vitamins as soon as you are told to because that is also very important for your general health and to prevent possible hair loss. You don't have to lose hair - many of us didn't........ so sip sip sip and wlak walk walk so gas does not get the better of you!
Glad you are home safe and sound! Happy 4th July!

Good evening Sarah. I am sorry that I wasn't able to get back up there on Thursday. I had a run in with about 10-15 pieces of wood on Interstate 64 and it messed up the underneath of the truck. I am hoping that I can come by maybe Sunday evening if that is going to be ok with you!
But... I am so glad you are home. I am very proud of you for doing as well as you are. The laps you did is awesome but please be careful that you don't over due yourself. I understand about the liquids. Some days, (very few lately with the heat) it is hard to drink, drink, drink but it really does help. Take care of yourself and get plenty of rest. Just remember I am thinking about you and praying for a speedy recovery.
Let me know when you are up to visitors. Have as happy of a 4th as you can and tell your mom I said hello! Big hugs to you both!!!
