New to OH - need some help...
Hello everyone. I am new to OH - I had Lap Band surgery 2/15, and am down 18 pounds - long way to go, but it's encouraging that it's coming off.
I was wondering how everyone stays motivated and keeps to the three, 4 oz meals a day - I have a three year old and I'm finding it difficult not to eat what she's eating. I go for my first fill on Friday, and I am hoping that helps with the continual hunger. Any suggestions out there?
I've been reading a lot of posts, and am very glad that I have found this support group. I'm looking forward to chatting with others going through the same thing I am.
Thanks,
Angela
Hey Angela. Welcome to the board. Congrats on your surgery. I had the open RNY so I can't help much with the lap band questions. I did find that since I have a busy, long day (I have two jobs) that the 3, 4 oz meals did not work for me and I had to eat a couple of snacks. Talk with your dr or nutritionist and see what they think.

Hiyas Angela, welcome to the Virginia board and OH. Sorry I don't have any answers to the lap-band questions either. Just wanted to say hi and it sounds like you are doing great. We have a few lap-banders that post regularly on the January 07 board if you want to ask there, I'm sure someone would be able to answer you.

Welcome, keep up the good work it will continue. You should see a difference after your fill. It is good to read all the experience here from first hand WLS patients, but do keep in mind that everyone is different, there is no ONE magic formula that works, it is variations to a degree with everyone, so see what works and doesn't work for folks and try to find your formula. Keep faith and stay in touch on the boards. Also not sure if you attend any group meetings or not but if you look down on the post board you will see a post of mine about our group if you are interested, may be more of a drive you want but you are more than welcome. Take Care.

Hi Angela...
Welcome to the Va forum..but have you also looke at the Lap band forum? I am not that familiar with lapband tips because I had RNY. I do know that there are a few lap band patients that are regulars on here who have had AMAZING results...so the tips are out there...most of us on here are RNYs though.
Congrats with your weight loss !!! I know what you mean about your 3 year old. I have a 2 year old myself. It does take some getting use to !!

Thanks so much to everyone who has responded - it is such a pleasure to hear from people going through what I am, and your suggestions and welcomes have been so appreciated.
I have stepped up the exercise and taken the suggestion of trying really hard to get all my water in, and I am finally down another pound - so it is working.
thanks so much for the encouragement.

Angela congratulations on your surgery! You have taken the first steps to a better healthier you! It is still hard to stick to three meals a day and usually one or two snacks as well - but we have to discipline ourselves once we are past the honeymoon period and can eat more - we have to be so careful of grazing or we can start to add weight back on...... once you have your fill I believe you get less hungry.
You should probably also join the lapband board as this will help you measure your progress and address many of your issues. Most if us are RNY and although we empathise with you we probably can't answer some of your questions. Much as we want to...
But stick around as we love to see progress and success and help along the way if we can..
