Spent 9 hours in the ER Last night

Well, I spent almost 9 hours in the ER last night. It appears that I am allergic to Dilaudid and now Percocets. I had a bad allergic reaction. Couldn't breathe, rash, I was hyperventilating and it made my arm go numb. It was very scary for me. So it looks like to Opiates for me. I do ok on Vicodins, but they only take the edge off, barely. So I came home with a Fentanyl Pain patch. I don't really like this constant loopy feeling, so I'm switching out o the vicodins. So, it looks like my surgical drug choces got very narrow. All this has made me want to put my last surgery on hold for awhile. This one is tough. The good news is, my outer thighs are smooth. But the trade off is my butt is flat as a pancake. I really didn't have enough fat left either. He took off 3 pounds of skin only. Skin does not weigh much. Ok, just wanted you all to know. Before this the only drug that gave me a problem was morphine. I took percoets last time. So you can develop an allergy out of nowhere or even over time. Jane, who is going back to bed.

Oh Jane - that's sound like quite an ordeal. I'm so sorry you had to endure that. Having a child with asthma has made me acutely aware of how scary it is to feel like you can't breathe. I'm glad you came through it okay, figured out what the problem was, and has some other pain relieve choices (even though they are not your first choice). I hope everything settles down and you can get back to the business of healing up! Keep us posted! Hugs, Robin

Oh my goodness! To be allergic to percacet is really the pits! I am glad that you are feeling better now though and hope these pain pills/patch work for you. And at least you have results that you can see already and are happy with. Flat butts are way better than the sticky out fat asses we used to have!! Take care love Jackie

What a scarey ordeal. I hope that you are feeling better, but without the "good" pain meds, it has to be hard. I know that Vicodins only take the edge off of the pain for me also. Take care of yourself! Cathy
