Boohoo..Seroma 1 month post op plastic surgery !!
I posted this on the plastics forum but I figured I would ask at my home forum also and even the main message board because I am up for all the input I can get about this...
I had a lateral thighplasty and buttock lift on January 17th. I recovered easily from it..except the tightness around the suture line which I felt was just normal swelling. The drains stayed in 2wks because I was putting out so much. They have been out for another two weeks now. Yesterday I was bending over after my shower and felt a rush towards the front of my suture line. I could feel the fluid being pulled forward by gravity and the collection looked and felt like a small water balloon sitting on my hip !!
Called my Plastic Surgeon and went into the office. He drained almost 5 ounces off that area. He said it isn't uncommon to have these after a large area of the body has been operated on such as with the procedure that I had or with the LBL.
Does anyone have any experience with seromas? I am so hoping this will resolve quickly. I have been using my compression girdle. This just kind of sucks !!! It sucks especially because I am finishing my final round of plastics on March 2nd...with the medial thighplasty and just wondering if I will have a mess to deal with with that also.
Any suggestions, past experience or personal experience on this would be greatly appeciated. Thanks in advance !!
Dana

Hi Dana, I'm sorry you're having that trouble. I have no experience with plastics, but I am getting close to I always like to read what everyone is going through. I know you have had good success with your breast surgery. I hope this is easily fixed - I'll be watching for what the experts on this board tell you! That would have totally freaked me out!

Hi Jean, I think I am going to use Dr. Kreiger. I am not real sure of the spelling but he seems to have a great reputation and I've seen some of his work in person, and I was very impressed. Natalie is going to use him as well for part of her plastics. I haven't met with him yet, so it's not 100% but I already feel good about him. He has lots of experience with wls patients and I like that. Stay tuned!!
Good luck to you too Jean,

Hi Dana,
I wish had some advice to offer, but unfortunately I don't have any knowledge of plastics or anyone in my circle of friends that has any experiences with it either. I just wanted to tell you that I hope it all works out for you and that I am sorry you are having trouble. Let us know the outcome. Good luck!

Robin
