Just droppingin to say good morning to my VA peeps! I'm almost ready for my surgery on Wed. I'll be glad to finally get rid of my saggy caboose. I know that this is the "tough" one. I have to hook up my laptap since sitting at the computer is a "no-no" for me. Yes, I have to lie down and stare at the ceiling for a good week. I'll be a good patient and do as they tell me. I got good drugs, my handy-dandy grabber and lots of magazines to read. Just not ready for the pain. But no pain, no gain. Mom is doing ok. She still gets tired very easily. By the time she starts feeling better, it's time to start chemo again (every 21 days). My aunts are coming into town to help out while I'm recovering. So that's a blessing and a load off my mind. There is no cure for her, yet. Just maintenance. Cancer sucks, no doubt about that. If anyone wants to come see me. I'll be staying overnight at Mary Immaculate Hospital on McManus Blvd in Newport News on Wed. I'm supposed to do a 24 hour stay but It could be more like 48 hours if I need it. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am on Wed. Morning. I have to drive myslf and then my aunt will pick up my car. you gotta do, whatcha gotta do. I'll let everyone know when I get home. So how was your weekend? I went on a blind date. It was nice, nothing to write about though. No sparks, no chemistry. I think I'm still resistant t dating right now, just getting my feet wet. Lots o' Hugs, Jane

Yeah, my weekends usually consist of entertaining an 8 year-old and cooking large meals to freeze for the week. Very boring. I have a feeling that when the Spring comes it is going to change. I made a new years resolution to do something I've never done before at least once a month. It forces you to get out of the house! Jane

Hello Jane: I understand the entertaining the kids, we have 4. Ages 11, 9, almost 8, & a 4 yo. We seem to be busy, but we are homebodies in the winter, especially since I am getting used to this new foundness of the cold. We usually try to do ALOT of field trips in the Spring bc of homeschool. So, we keep busy. That is a very good resolution. Mine was to remain out of the hopital this year. Good luck again, and I will pray for you. Hugs, Stephanie 421/265/220/215 I got my back...LOL.

Hey Jane I am praying that the pain will not be as bad as what you think it is going to be - and in the end it will be so worth it!! Just try to relax and think of all the positives! I am sorry about your Mom - cancer is a very evil disease but your whole family are fighters and hopefully your mom is in there fighting too! If I lived nearer I would come and see you in hosptial but I will be thinking of you instead! My weekend was good! Connor went to his first birthday party in a children's gym and he had a wonderful time - he was so energetic he made me tired!! This morning he is a tired little puppy!! It is hard to get back into the dating game when the stuffing has been knocked out of you. Just try to look on this time as a way of getting back into what dating is like and learn what to avoid etc. Weeding our perspective dates is a hard chore - you can only do your best. And you did have a nice time even if it had no sparks. I used to make all my dates lunch ones because they have a beginning and an end and it is pretty short. I gave up spending my evenings with people that did nothing for me or that I knew had no hope after the first ten minutes. I met Bill though online dating so it does work - you just have to kiss a lot of frogs - lunchtime prevents some of that unnecessary body contact too....shudder.... There is nothing wrong with getting your feet wet.... slowly... Good luck for Wednesday! Hugs Jackie

Kids do keep you young! I swear I pobally spend more time thinking about the latest Star Wars toys and watching animal planet then I do anything else. Kids do have a ton of energy. It's a good thing I lost a ton of weght because I would never be able to keep up! Jane

Well Sweety , If I do not get to talk to you before the big day , know that I am sending you tons of prayers and postive energies . I am so looking forward to getting started on my PS journey . I am taking everything I learn from you , Lei , Wendy and soon Susan on what I can expect . Dating ... Hmmmm .. Boy do I know how hard it can be . Getting my feet wet was not the issue .. it was getting them soaked and dried out a couple times till I got it right .. and I know in my heart that this is it for me ... My prayers always go up for your Mom .. I know it is silly ,, but I think about her when I take my bath .. as this is when I try to mediate .. and think about others .. I pray that she gets through all of this .. and that you and Dylan remain strong for her . I know you do .. I can feel it in everything you write about her . It is hard .. My mom and I do not have the best relationship .. but here lately I am drawn to her , for the mere fact she is in such bad physical shape for a woman of 62. I see her doing so much more .. but she has many bone issues .. and in pain .. and nothing I can do for her .. but wait and pray .. so I too know how hard it can be . Much love coming your way ... Tink

Thank you for the prayers. I still have that mentor implant form if you want it. Hey $50 bucks to do a little shopping with is nice. I'm getting another one to send to Susan. Now when we get together we can play "If you show me yours, I'll show you mine"...scars that is (lol). Yeh, dating. I signed up for match.com. wow, I had 20 emails and winks within the first day. What is it with men waiting til their late 30's to get married? Well, I'm corresponding with a few, just keeping it light. I actually met someone from another dating site that is so far, a gem. Very honest and open from what I can tell. I'll have to call you to tell you about this one. heehee. Thank you so much for your prayers. As a Buddhist, I don't pray in the traditional sense. But I do meditate twice a day and send out positive energy. I've really embraced this peaceful religion. It's done wonders for my mental clarity, my positive outlook and well, has explain to me that we have no control over the things that happen. You know, love your mom the best you can. It's hard to repair things that happened in the past, but with her health issues, you have to put that aside and start anew. I know you already know that. I will send her some positive energy. Hugs, Jane

Good luck, Jane. I'll be praying for you. I have a super busy week or I'd come to see you. My son will be having an ultrasound done at CHKD in Norfolk Wednesday morning and I have a post-op appointment on Thursday. Not to mention 10 hour work days, eeeek! Sorry your date wasn't spectacular, but I know you'll be just fine. You're gorgeous and you've got plenty of time to play! Thinking of you, Amber
