The importance of taking calcium is so that you do not lose bone density and end up with osteoporosis. I believe most folks take a minimum of 1500 mg (in 500 mg doses) daily or more depending on their labs. Kathy

I usually take 1600g a day chewables - I used the Bariatric Advantage chocolate ot mint flavored. If you don't take it your body will take the calcium it needs from you bones and you will lose bone density and get ostioperosis (I have no idea how to spell that). It is very very important that you take your calcium. Jackie

They already stated the importance, but my dosage is different. I'm supposed to take 2000 a day and we can only digest (according to my nut) 600 at a time, so I take 3 a day and get the rest from food. Amber
