I second the PowerCrunch Bars. I had one for breakfast two days this week and had forgotten how I liked them. I'll be ordering/getting some more since my breakfast choices are getting bland again. I also do the Profect/IDS Liquid protein vials....life savers. Christina S

Remember...the South Beach are soy protein, and some cannot tolerate soy at all (frantically waving my hand - hehe). Have you tried the profect? Seems to me small enough that you could hol dyour nose and shoot it back. Also, Vitamin Shoppe carries Protein Delite - it's pretty good. I like the Chocolate Coconut, Coconut Almond, Strawberry Whitechocolate and Vanilla Berry. Did you make your drinks with milk or water? I do my shakes with milk and that helps me. Just a few tips for ya! Jill

Naomi, I found the Promedis bars to be really good, especially the yogurt covered raspberry or roasted peanut. They are small - only 1.4 oz per bar, which is helpful immediately post op when food intake is so limited, and contain 15 grams of protein. They have 10 grams of sugar per bar. They do have soy protein and I realize some people have reactions to soy. They are available at www.ishophere.biz. I don't know where you are located in VA, but the ishophere.biz office is in northern Virginia, near Woodbridge. They also have a lot of other protein options. This place was a lifesaver for me immediately post-op because I gagged on any milk-based liquid protein drinks. I am not certain if the difficulty you are having with the protein shakes you are drinking is because they are milk based. If so, Ishophere.biz has a liquid concentrate protein drink that is like a juice by Protidiet. I believe it is 12 grams of sugar. Just don't use these liquids as your only source of protein as they are missing one amino acid. Another option for a drink that is not a shake, but a juice type alternative is Roadside Lemonade by Nectar. Alone, it is not very good, but if you mix it into crystal lite lemonade, it is yummy. This is available from www.vitalady.com. The liquid concentrate and the Roadside lemonade mix well without lumps and are not chalky tasting. I am about 4 years post-op from a DS, but still use all these supplements. Both my sister and best friend had RNY's and they use these supplements as well. They have not had any issues with dumping using these supplements. Best wishes, Sharon

When I buy protein bars I buy them from www.ishophere.biz. I buy the chocolate cereal or the caramel cereal bars because they have ZERO grams of sugar and 140 calories and either 12 or 15g of protein...... I also take the "shots" of Whey protein by IDS - best things ever invented if you ask me!! I can choke down that protein but not really any other kind........ Jackie

Naomi, I had my RNY open the same day you did! I am not at all fond of Protein drinks, but I have discovered a few that I can tolerate and a couple of bars too. I do Unjury unflavored Protein 1 scoup, with a small bananna (frozen), 1 cup of skim milk, a few drops of vanilla and 2 packs of splenda, in the bullet. The vanilla and bananna really masks the flavor of the protein and it's really pretty good. Also, I like the AchieveOne coffee pre-made drinks for when I'm running around and don't have a blender. They taste something like a Starbucks cold cappacino. I also do Isopure chocolate protein powder. This one has 27 grams of protein from 1 scoup. At first I mixed it with skim milk but found that a bit too sweet, so I now do it differently. I mix 1 scoup of Isopure chocolate with water and top it off with a couple of tablespoons of fat free 1/2 & 1/2. This is thinner than a shake and tastes something like a yohoo to me. I can get it down much more easily than mixing it with milk. It already has milk in it. I know it sounds strange not mixing it with skim milk and using water instead and then toping it off with 1/2 & 1/2, but it's not bad!!!! I have found 2 protein bars that Ilike the first is Diet Health & Sports Lemon crunch bar 10 grams of protein, 18 carbs and 4.5 grams of fat. I drink a glass of skim milk first and there's 19 grams of protein between the 2. I also like the South Beach Protein Bar, Chocolate. I have noticed that when I keep up with my protein I burn off the fat much faster. Especially if I keep up with the exercise. I am down 34 lbs since surgery and 6 llbs just prior, I'm a slow and steady looser, but I'm loosing!! I know you asked about Protein bars but I was wondering if you had experimented much by adding different things to protein powder to drink. When I finally found a way to drink protein that I could stand, I have become more at peace with the funky protein issue. I hope this helps! McLean
