Well, HAPPY NEW YEAR for me! I am already getting a little nervous. Has anybody got any uplifting stories for me? I was doing fine until I had my mandatory appt with the psychologist......she started discussing difficulty adjusting to body so fast and stated that the spouse sometimes gets jealous because you have to be number one for a while. Help, Nancy

Hi Nancy! Congrats on your surgery date. Let me share with you that WLS is one of the best things I've done in my 45 years of life! The health benefits along with the wows of feeling and looking better are fabulous. For me, they far outweigh any issues that I'm dealing with. I have more energy than I've had since I was 15 and just feel much much better overall. I know that psychologists want to make sure that we're prepared for a big body transition, but I'm confident you'll do well. Best wishes! Wanda

Wanda, Thanks for the reply. I cannot wait to have energy!!:jump: I am sure I will be fine just nervous jitters. Seems the key will be to keep him included. The big challenge will be making myself number 1 for awhile. Nancy

Nancy , There are many success stories here . As for me I started this jouney at 325 and now at 127 . I No longer suffer from diabetes or high cholestoral . I can run like the wind and have more energy .. that is when I am not recouping from surgery of a tumor removal ( Unwls related ) Feel free to read my profile . And others here . Are there body issues , yes .. for the most part they can be dealt with . And yes you will always have to be # 1 . This lifestyle will be your life from the day you have surgery until forever .. and it is up to you to take control and be accountable . And for me , I had to make myself # 1 in order to be successful . It does not mean you have to ignore your hubby .. and the best suggestion for dealing with him is to keep him involved in your life , let him go with you on your appointments, show him how important he is in your life .. and always make him feel wanted and needed . I wish you many success along your journey and know that you will do excellent ! Many hugs, Natalie

...woooohoooo, January 17th surgeries, RULE!!!!! That was "my" day, 4 years ago, and it's the best decision (and gift) I could have ever made/given myself. Life is nothing short of a miracle now, after losing 240 pounds, I'm truly LIVING IT NOW, verses just existing. I wish for you, all the health, energy, happiness, enthusiasm and zest for life that Ive found with weight loss surgery. What a GREAT way to start your new year - 2007 is ALL ABOUT YOU!!! Lei

Nancy- Congratulations on getting your date! It's the beginning of a whole new adventure for you and your family! I'm just past 4 months out and am so happy that I made this decision. I just got back from a trip to see my family over the Thanksgiving Holiday and what fun it was to be able to do more with my nieces and family! Food wasn't even an issue...I tried just about everything on the table and never felt deprived. Body image is a thing that you deal with...I know my head hasn't quite caught up to my body, but there are tons of tips to help you through that (measure, pictures, etc.). As for my hubby..he's been my #1 supporter the whole way through. I kept him VERY involved in the process and educated him right along with myself so he'd know what was going on. We hit a rough patch about a month out, but I'm convinced it was my darn horomones making me an insane person....totally not him. He's proud of my success and would shout it from the rooftops if I let him! He's looking forward to so many things once I get closer to goal (I'm a tennis player in the making!) that I don't think jealousy will be an issue...it'll be more about keeping up with me stamina-wise! Congrats again and please continue to post if you need support. We're here for you. Christina S

Nancy - CONGRATULATIONS and most definitely a HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!!! My advice to you is read profiles - lots of them!!! We have all been right where you are! This is not an easy road - but SOOOOOO worth it! My husband initially did not want me to have WLS...but...almost 15 months later - he had WLS!!! He just had his surgery on 11/20/06. He is not real good at posting - but I told him I would try to keep it up for him....he posts under Papa Bear. Include him in everything...have him take pictures for you...you will want lots of before photos and photos along the way...have him take measurements...let him see what you weigh...I know sometimes that's a tough one...It was really tough for me...because I weighed more and was quite a bit bigger around than my hubby!! We are praying for you! Jill
