The Oprah Show
hey girl! I saw the show and it was a real eye opener for me. Over the weekend my boyfriend mentioned that he thought I might have a drinking problem.....and I was really mad at him for bringing it up but after watching the show..maybe I do have issues that need to be dealt with. If only I can work it out with the b/f everything will be ok...we haven't talked since Sunday....I am soo upset about things.
Hope all is well! Take care and keep in touch!

I was able to see the show and at first I was a little disppointed but felt once Carnie spoke she made it quite clear that she had many addictions before she lost weight. I agree that people who have lost weight by other avenues should have been portrayed also. And what about the many people who are successes? (I include myself in that group.) I also found it odd that there was no mention of the fact that one of the rules of the pouch is not to drink. (Although I have seen first hand the overindulgence of alchohol by WLS people at some functions.)
Another interesting observation: I was speaking with a group of physical therapists at a local hospital and they were commenting on how so many women leave their husbands once they have the WLS and loose weight. I told them that I totally could see that happening. If you don't have a strong marriage/relationship I can see where the temptations arrise. Here most of us are, fat our entire adult life with little or no attention from the opposite sex. Then all of a sudden...Boom... men are opening doors at 7-11, blowing their horns, talking to me after 30 years of little attention...for many months I was wondering who was staniding behind me. Who the heck were they looking at? I finally figured out it was me! And without a strong relationship I can easliy see how people get caught up in the moment and stray elsewhere. WLS is the most exciting, scary, sad, happy, amazing thing I have ever been thru and it's hard to keep my head straight at times. I wish Oprah would show successes--but that wouldn't attract as many viewers.
