my husband had surgery yesterday
things went well. he has a drainage tube bcause of scar tissue from heartburn, ect. over the years so it was a preventive measure to prevent infection. i love him so much. he is only 37 and has out of control diabeties, high blood pressure, liver disease, sevear back problems. i am praying that this surgery will help with some of these problems. he didnt want to have the surgery and i know in my heart that he did this for me. his weight is not really an issue for him. he is 271 and 6 feet. he played football in high school so he has always been big. i told him that the surgery can help him get his diabeties and blood pressure under control and help with his fatty liver ect. i just want him to stay around, you know? his liver disease is bad but complicated with his diabeties staying around 300, 400 and high blood pressure??? its just scary! im glad that he decided to have it. it will be a relief when his blood sugar comes down and he is feeling healthier.
thanks for listening!

Glad your husband is doing well. I also have diabetes pretty bad, but was keeping blood sugar under control (only recently with the addition of the Byetta) with 2 insulins, 1 oral med., and a new med. called Byetta that is also injected. Anyway, my point is I just had my surgery on 7/31 and I am off all my diabetes meds. The doctor told me to use a sliding scale with my insulin (use insulin if it goes over 200 with pre-meal testing), but I have not had to use it once since I have been back home. So you may be surprised at how quickly your husband's diabetes improved. From what I understand my situation of leaving the hospital and not having to take anything is fairly common. I actually thought I would be on something since I was taking so many....., but so far so good......I will keep your husband in my prayers. Monique D.
