Topic: cautiously optimistic
Well, my paperwork was sent to the insurance company this morning for authorization so I called them this afternoon to start my heckling. The customer service rep I spoke to was very nice and said she thought it looked as if it had already been approved. I wrote down the "authorization numbers" she gave me. I was feeling happy but a little unbelieving, so a couple hours later I called and talked to someone in another department. This time I was told that the case was still being reviewed and that the numbers were reference numbers, not auth. numbers. I was a bit deflated at that thought, however, this means that at least they have the case in hand and I should hopefully know something soon.
Can anyone else out there tell me of their experience with United Health Care.....do they give authorization numbers? (Still hoping it's for sure, LOL)

Hey Stefani, Andre here. Were you at the Feb. support group? I'm thinking you were the one with low energy and didn't think it would be possible to take so many naps? Hope your body is adapting to the low caloric intake better. Anyways, glad to see more and more people on here. I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions for your knee pain. As far as post op problems?.....I got "stuck" this last week. Holy crap that hurt. Had to get my fill taken out to let it pass. If i would've had bypass i would've had to have surgery. See you at the next meeting. Andre

I think United Health Care is pretty good about covering the surgery. Also, Deseret Mutual I have heard is pretty good about it too. Call South Valley Surgical and ask to speak with their Insurance Specialist. 571-9511 or go to SVSurgical.com I have BCBS and they would not cover it either, I also do not think that IHC will cover it.

Does anyone know of an insurance that will cover lap band surgery? I have Tri West. They approved stomach bypass but they consider lap band experimental and won't pay.
